The role
ILS (Integrated Logistics Support) is an integrated part of product development. Within the development process, the main goal of ILS is to ensure that the product design meets the requirements regarding reliability, availability, and maintainability. Further goals of ILS are to improve functional use as well as to reduce and make transparent the total life cycle costs; all this with as low an impact as possible on the customer's logistical system. The activities of ILS do not end after the delivery of the product to the customer; in many cases, the activities continue until the end of the life cycle. ILS is therefore active throughout the entire life cycle of a product.
Concretely, ILS is involved in, among other things: development of customer- and product-specific maintenance concepts; analyses in the fields of reliability, availability, and maintainability; Life Cycle Costing; Spares Modeling; spare parts catalogs; user manuals as well as documentation for the execution of maintenance and repair work; technical illustrations; selecting/developing (special) tools for maintenance and repair; training for users and maintenance personnel; collecting and making available technical specifications and relevant logistical information.
What you'll do
As an ILS Engineer, you are involved in both the development of various military vehicles/systems and their support after commissioning. Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for ensuring that the ILS goals are achieved and that all relevant requirements are met; for this purpose, you also collaborate outside your own team with the designers from the Engineering department.
Main duties of the position
- Collecting and acquiring/retaining technical data for ILS.
- Supporting ILS specialists in the execution of various types of analyses.
- Entering, checking, and correcting data in various types of ILS databases.
- Assessing the influence of a design change on ILS.
- Checking and adjusting/harmonizing documentation to be provided by ILS.
- Supporting the development of training.
- Answering customer questions regarding (provisional) documentation provided by ILS.
- Guiding requests for adjusting documentation provided by ILS, following design changes or the unavailability of spare parts/(special) tools.
