Getting to work on strengthening Portbase's earning capacity
Collaborating with colleagues from the team and stakeholders at Portbase
What the Finance, Legal & Contract Manager says about this role:
"As a Financial Controller at Portbase, you are close to the numbers and the choices we make. You work on a solid financial foundation, but you also get the space to improve processes and make a real impact on the organization's earning capacity."
"What makes this role special is the combination of content and collaboration. You work with your feet in the clay, but always together with colleagues and stakeholders to make Portbase a little bit better every month."
As a Financial Controller, you will help strengthen Portbase's earning capacity. You ensure that figures are correct, financial insights are generated, and decisions are better substantiated. You work together with all colleagues in the team and you get plenty of space to take on improvements independently.
The monthly closing, in which we want to report our figures accurately, timely, and completely every month. Together with your fellow financial controller and administrator, you divide the tasks ranging from booking in AFAS to preparing the reports.
Our projects involving subsidy grants and development assignments where contacts are made with governments and semi-governments. You provide financial insight, monitor expenditures, and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting (including hours) and invoicing.
Our cash flow forecasts, where as part of our financial strategy, we want to build more financial resilience based on your insights.
Strengthening our sales and accounts receivable process so that we improve liquidity. With a growing customer base from a growing number of countries, it is a significant challenge to enable all our customers to pay invoices.
You will know the position of Portbase and the finances better and better after your onboarding period. You combine your knowledge of the organization, the figures, and your proactive approach to provide direction to change and professionalization at Portbase in a constructive manner.
You work in a close-knit, five-member finance and control team. During busy moments, we work closely together and coordinate tasks well to achieve team objectives. We work hard and look out for one another because we know that we achieve the best results together. You are involved in the organization and know how to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders. You work with "your feet in the clay" and make a positive contribution to the collaboration and atmosphere.
In addition to the regular work week, all sorts of things are organized that you can join if they appeal to you. Think of a boxing class, a board game evening, or are you one of the team members in the relay team at the Rotterdam Marathon? Or you choose to spend an evening at the office during a board game evening.
You work independently, take initiative, and think ahead

We operate as an IT company and as a logistics service provider. We are both, and that makes us strong. We know the market, the players, and their interests. We bring parties together, initiate chain agreements, and work together on solutions that make the Dutch ports and their supply chains attractive to companies that want to transport goods via Europe.
We listen attentively to all parties in the logistics chain. From shipping company to terminal, from driver to customs officer: all links in the chain have their own challenges. We therefore work for the entire port community. They work more efficiently and effectively simply by processing 90 million transactions per year on time via 43 different services.
Portbase has existed since 2002 and we are proud of that. What once began with the task of digitizing paperwork has grown into one of the most progressive Port Community Systems in the world and a connecting factor between all port partners.
In the future, we will continue to take the lead in developing chain-wide digital solutions to make integrated service delivery simpler and safer. If there is one thing we have learned in recent years, it is that we cannot stand still. As a port community, we are in motion. Literally.
