Pay & benefits

What you'll get

At NLR, you get the space to make an impact and to develop yourself. You work in an innovative national and international high-tech environment where curiosity, collaboration, and craftsmanship are central. We believe that people perform best when they are given the freedom to take initiative, to continue developing, and to find a healthy balance between work and private life.

  • 45 vacation days (based on a 40-hour work week).

  • 8% holiday allowance and a fixed year-end bonus of 8%.

  • The costs for traveling by public transport are fully reimbursed. Do you travel with your own transport? Then you will receive a mileage allowance for commuting.

  • A healthcare allowance of €145 gross (based on a 40-hour work week) via our collective health insurance at OHRA as extra support for your healthcare costs.

  • Extra paid parental leave.

  • Plenty of opportunities to keep learning through education, training, coaching, and other development opportunities.

The role

Do you maintain an overview when calendars are full, priorities shift, and different interests converge? Do you get energy from a role in which you don't just organize, but also think along, look ahead, and take initiative? As Management Assistant Strategy & Policy, you are the right hand of our Executive Director. You help him create focus and space for strategic issues and also help build a new department.

What you'll do

As Management Assistant, you are the organizational and substantive sparring partner of the Executive Director Strategy & Policy. You look ahead, think along about priorities, and signal what requires attention. You ensure that daily operations run smoothly, but also look beyond the urgency of the day. By thinking ahead, making connections, and picking up matters proactively, you create space for the Executive Director to focus on strategic issues. In this, you are more than a supporter: you think along, take initiative, and keep an eye on what is happening.

Because the department is new, not everything is yet fixed. You will be given the space to help build the way we work together and organize from the very beginning. You think along about what works, signal where improvement is needed, and help set up structures and work processes.

What will you do?

  • Managing the Executive Director's agenda, weighing priorities, and coordinating complex schedules.

  • Preparing and organizing meetings: from gathering documents to monitoring action items and agreements.

  • Maintaining contact with colleagues, the board, and external relations, including strategic partners.

  • Ensuring information reaches the right people in a timely manner and handling confidential documents with care.

  • Organizing meetings and arranging business travel.

  • Thinking along about work agreements and practical processes that help the new department to collaborate smoothly.

Your new working environment

You will become part of the new Strategy & Policy (S&P) department, which will support the board in strategic advice, strengthening relationships with important partners, and connecting strategy, policy, and organizational development. Various expertise areas come together here to provide direction to the future of NLR. Think of board affairs, Inclusion, Diversity & Equity (ID&E), Public Affairs, social safety, and sustainability (ESG).

The department will be further built up in the coming period, including with the addition of strategic responsibility for the Defense, Civil Aviation, and Space markets. Within these markets, work will be done to strengthen our market position and exploit strategic opportunities.

Your location is Amsterdam. In addition, we expect you to be regularly present at our location in Marknesse.
