Working at NLR means working in a national and international high-tech environment. Collaboration and involvement are highly valued by us. By giving you freedom and personal responsibility, you are best able to achieve groundbreaking innovations. Do you want to develop yourself both professionally and personally? That is also possible at NLR as a learning organization, supplemented by a training budget, a mentor, internal coaches, and good contacts with vocational, applied sciences, and universities.
In addition to all this, we offer you:
The opportunity to contribute to complex and socially relevant issues;
Sufficient holiday and ATV days (45 in total for full-time employment) for a good work-life balance;
An end-of-year bonus of 8%;
An allowance for your healthcare costs;
Extra paid parental leave;
The possibility to develop yourself with education and courses that match your ambitions.
Are you a driven engineer (WO) who wants to contribute to innovative research in the world of aerospace? Do you want to use state-of-the-art design, simulation, and optimization methods for this? Then read on!
As an R&D Engineer, you will strengthen the Computational Mechanics team within the department. You will conduct research into new structural designs through analyses and optimizations of metal (3D-printed), composite, and hybrid structures. In doing so, you will make use of existing CAD and FEM software. You will develop design methodologies or advanced computational models for sustainable, lightweight, and economically viable concepts for application in aerospace. This can range from detailed calculations for components to global structural models of aircraft. Furthermore, you will contribute to the development of new process simulations for new innovative manufacturing concepts and support experimental testing with simulations. You will do this within projects that we carry out for customers in the Netherlands and abroad. For this, you will work closely with your colleagues and our manufacturing and testing departments. You will work in a team environment on projects, and the work offers plenty of opportunities for your further professional and personal development.
Then email our recruiter Danielle Kuijf danielle.kuijf@nlr.nl. Our colleagues would love to tell you what it is like to work at NLR. By the way, don't forget to take a look at our socials such as our YouTube channel.
Great, we are curious about you! Send your motivation letter and CV via the 'Apply' button.
A positive outcome of a security screening (VGB) is a condition for employment. You can read more about this on the MIVD website.
For this position, an integrity test and obtaining a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) are conditions for employment. Read more information about the VOG on the Justis website.
Acquisition is not appreciated!
The Metal Additive Manufacturing & Computational Mechanics department (25 employees) focuses on developing knowledge, skills, and processes (design, analysis, and manufacturing and repair technology) in the field of metal additive manufacturing and on being able to accurately predict, optimize, and simulate the behavior of (multi)materials and multifunctional structures during the design and manufacturing process (via virtual manufacturing) and testing (via virtual testing). Additionally, we conduct experimental material and damage research. We work closely within the department and with experts from other departments within NLR. Thus, we also perform simulations of manufacturing processes and develop digital representations of manufacturing techniques (digital twins). Our project teams are multidisciplinarily composed and work in (inter)national collaborations.
Royal NLR has been a knowledge organization for over 100 years with the will and ambition to innovate. Driven by that motivation, we make the world of aerospace safer, more sustainable, more efficient, and more effective, and we stand for groundbreaking innovations.
More than 1000 driven professionals work with us, from aeronautical engineers to psychologists and from mathematicians to application experts. NLR stands for an inclusive and diverse organization where everyone feels welcome, safe, valued, and respected.
