The role
- Through technical inspections, you ensure that our trains remain in top condition.
- You work on various repairs, which means no two days are the same.
- You work with new trains and therefore also with the latest technology.
Fatih: "The moment I start my work, for example during a daily inspection or when solving a malfunction, I keep the passengers on the train in mind. They must be transported safely."
What you'll do
NS performs the maintenance and service for almost all trains in the Netherlands itself. You play an important role in this. Together with your colleagues, you ensure that our trains are in top condition, so they can run safely, comfortably, and on time.
In this position, you are responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various types of trains. Thanks to your interest in technology and your sharp eye during malfunctions, you are of great value in:
- Reading work orders and performing technical inspections on trains.
- Solving simple malfunctions and replacing or repairing broken parts.
- Detecting malfunctions and clearly recording what you have found in the systems.
- Consulting with your supervisor about which investigations and repairs are necessary.
- Thinking along about how work, technology, and safety can be even better.
As a technician at NS, you often work independently on a train. You receive clear assignments and have a lot of personal responsibility. At the same time, you work in a team: you coordinate with colleagues, ask for help with difficult malfunctions, and work together to ensure safe and reliable trains.
Where you will work
You will be working in the Roosendaal Service Center. You will work together with fellow technicians and team leaders. There is a good atmosphere in the team of colleagues, who care a lot for one another. For example, if someone is sick, the shift is swapped internally. You work in an irregular schedule (early- 7.00 - 15.30, late- 14.45 - 23.15, night- 22.30 - 7.00 and weekend shifts). However, it may occur that we ask you, in consultation, to occasionally deviate from the schedule so that gaps in the schedule can be filled.
To keep your knowledge up to date and expand it, as well as to develop personally, you get the opportunity at NS to follow training and/or courses that align with your function.
