(Senior) Mechanical Project Engineer

You arrive at the office on Monday morning and can immediately join a kick-off meeting, where your colleagues from the electrical, software, and assembly departments are also present. A large tomato grower has commissioned us to automate the unfolding of folding crates. Cool! As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will work on the complete mechanical design, the creation of detailed drawings, and the bills of materials for this End-of-Line machine.

On your bike this morning, you have already been thinking about how you are going to achieve a minimum of 25 crates per minute, while the same machine can also handle a large diversity of other crates. During the meeting, you discuss the various mechanical modules that can be reused and the modules that must be newly designed based on the other functional specifications of the customer.

Back on the work floor, you begin drawing out the first submodules. It's no small task: designing a machine that meets the customer requirements AND our own machine standards. Additionally, you are already keeping in mind future standardization possibilities and an efficient design that you can realize within the project's schedule and budget.

Time to go home? First, one more round through the production hall. Here, your fellow mechanics are working hard on a machine that you modified to customer specifications a few months ago. It is good to see the feedback you received from them in practice.

• HBO degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics;
• 5-10 years of work experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer in machine building/robotics;
• Knowledge of Inventor/ other 3D CAD software;
• You enjoy transferring your knowledge and experience to your colleagues;
• In addition to being an engineer, you are an expert in communicating, quality-oriented, and responsible.
