The role
Are you that Test Automation Engineer who wants to help make the Netherlands more sustainable together with us? Do you take ownership of quality and do you know how to take test automation and test strategy to a higher level within complex IT landscapes? Then we are looking for you!
As a Test Automation Engineer, you are part of the Digital department. You are responsible for the design, further development, and safeguarding of our testing approach. You work together with multiple delivery teams and ensure that quality is structurally anchored in our way of working.
What you'll do
While external suppliers and our software engineers are responsible for unit and integration testing, as a Test Automation Engineer, you are responsible for the test strategy and ensure that the entire chain is included. You elevate a complex landscape, in which pragmatism and manual validation play an important role, to a higher level of test automation. You are able to find the right balance between speed and quality. At the same time, you are hands-on involved in drafting test cases and developing automated tests. Additionally, you guide colleagues in applying test automation and contribute to quality insights for stakeholders. To achieve this:
You take ownership of the test strategy and monitor its application within delivery teams;
You design and implement scalable and maintainable test automation frameworks;
You ensure stable and reliable automated tests that impact the entire chain;
You increase quality through structural improvements in test processes and tooling;
You take responsibility for test environments, dependencies, and test data;
You report quality status and risks to stakeholders;
You are an enthusiastic and driven professional who enjoys guiding and stimulating others to embrace test automation.
What we ask
A professional with a completed HBO (higher professional education) degree in the direction of Computer Science or Software engineering, who wants to join our team for 32–40 hours per week. You possess strong technical insight, strategic thinking skills, and the ability to lead others through change. Furthermore, you are:
A specialist with at least 5 years of experience in test automation within complex IT environments;
Demonstrably experienced in setting up test strategies and scalable test frameworks;
Someone with an affinity for process-oriented thinking regarding an entire chain;
Proficient in programming languages such as .Net, Python, or TypeScript, or another modern programming language;
Familiar with tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium;
Hands-on experience with API testing and integration testing;
Experienced with CI/CD pipelines and platforms such as Azure DevOps or GitHub;
In possession of an ISTQB Foundation and/or TMAP certificate;
Strong communicatively, both orally and in writing, in the Dutch language;
Independent, eager to learn, and motivated to continuously stay up to date with the latest trends and developments within your field.
