The assignment takes place within the Operations directorate of Justid. The department within which the assignment takes place is JD&IB.

Description of service description, reason, and objective

The department within which the assignment takes place is Development. The Development department is responsible for the development of new systems and the improvement of existing systems, application maintenance, and the delivery of expertise to other departments within our service.

For the support of legal assistance requests, a new system is being developed named DIAS (Dutch International Assistance System). This system serves as a replacement for the current outdated LURIS system. The planned lead time is approximately 2 years.
The realization of DIAS is carried out by a 'DevOps team'. For the team, T-shaped team members are required: each team member has a specialty (basic role) and also performs other tasks, in order to effectively and efficiently realize and operationalize parts of the system.

Due to COVID-19 measures, the assignment is primarily carried out from home, with a maximum of 1 team meeting per week at the Zoetermeer location.
As soon as COVID-19 measures are revised/relaxed, at least 3 days will be worked at the Almelo location and a maximum of 1 day per week in Zoetermeer.

For this assignment, 2 senior test engineers are sought to contribute to the project activities.

As a senior test engineer, you will work in the new DevOps team regarding the development of 'DIAS'. In the construction of this system, techniques such as: Java, Typescript/Javascript, REST/JSON, XML/XSLT, Angular, HTML, and CSS are used.

You integrate your efforts and your testing activities seamlessly together with the developers. You are involved in the entire agile trajectory: from refinement of the assignment, estimating and scheduling the tasks, and building and testing, through to demonstrating the delivered functionality to stakeholders, but also looking retrospectively at your own attitude and behavior. Additionally, there is occasionally the role of chain test coordinator, in those cases where changes occur in which renewed chain testing must take place with the connected parties.

You are primarily occupied with the necessary testing activities (unit/integration/functional/technical tests) or help the developer and acceptor to implement and execute them based on your expertise. In doing so, you strive for a high degree of automation of (regression) tests.

You share your knowledge both requested and unrequested and document it. You help your team members to 'think differently' during their activities towards a test mindset in order to realize 'quality at the source' as such.
Additionally, you contribute to the resolution of incidents.

You have extensive experience working in a scrum environment and you endorse the principles of Agile and DevOps working. You like working independently, but also get energy from collaborating. Integrating your testing activities with other disciplines is not a problem for you given your T-shaped role. That means that in addition to your primary task as a senior test engineer, you also take on other tasks - and think along - in the field of analysis and design.

You are critical and do not automatically settle for what is described in the user stories. As such, you contribute to the quality of user stories. You proactively search for the limits of combinations and cases, and show perseverance. You improve the test process within your team, using methodologies such as Exploratory Testing and Context Driven Testing.

You have knowledge of, and practical experience with applying secure software development, including testing thereof, for example from OWASP, and you know how to use the tool BurpSuite well for this.
You also know how to utilize the benefits of the accessibility plugin Axe for an even better connection with the end user.

Builds and deployments are performed via CI/CD pipelines through Jenkins, GIT, and Nexus. Together with the developer and technical management, you safeguard a high quality of work.

You use the most recent developments within your field and know how to translate them into practice. Moving flexibly with developments within a changing environment is not a challenge for you.
