The role

Vlisco is on the threshold of a major digital transformation. To prepare our production environment for the future, we are investing in a modern Industrial Automation (IA) and OT infrastructure that seamlessly connects data, systems, and machines.

For this challenge, we are looking for an Industrial Automation Network Engineer who forms the bridge between industrial automation, IT infrastructure, and software development. In this role, you will help modernize our existing IA stack and contribute to building the foundations of an Industry 4.0 environment.

What you'll do

You will work on networks, virtualization, container platforms, software integrations, and data solutions that contribute directly to the reliability, scalability, and digitalization of our factory.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Designing, implementing, and managing industrial networks and OT connectivity;
Modernizing the Industrial Automation infrastructure towards Industry 4.0;
Managing and further developing VMware virtualization and Docker container environments;
Developing backend solutions for data exchange between machines, systems, and applications;
Setting up and improving DevOps practices for deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management;
Developing Python scripts and tools for automation and data integration;
Modernizing existing MATLAB solutions to Python or other future-proof technologies;
Collaborating with various technical disciplines to further digitalize production processes;
Ensuring the availability, cybersecurity, and performance of our OT systems.

WHAT YOU BRING

HBO or WO working and thinking level, for example in Industrial Automation, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Technical Informatics;
Experience with industrial and enterprise networks;
Experience with VMware and virtualization;
Knowledge of Docker and container technology;
Experience with backend development and Python;
Experience with DevOps methodologies and CI/CD processes;
You have an affinity for both IT and OT and find it interesting to connect these worlds;
You are analytical, solution-oriented, and pragmatic;
You work independently, but actively seek collaboration;
You are curious and enjoy discovering and applying new technologies;
You dare to look critically at existing solutions and come up with improvements.
