What we're looking for

  • A completed technical HBO (higher professional education) or WO (university) degree, for example in the field of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Energy Technology, or similar.

  • Extensive demonstrable experience as a Technical Manager, Engineering Manager, Design Manager, or in a similar ultimately responsible technical role, preferably in the field of cross-technical projects.

  • Experience with multidisciplinary projects in which design, realization, and testing & commissioning come together integrally.

  • Knowledge of system integration, interface management, verification and validation, test management, and technical risk management.

  • Preferably experience with high-voltage stations, energy systems, industrial installations, data centers, or similar complex technical infrastructure.

  • Experience in managing design teams, advisors, suppliers, and technical partners within a complex contractual environment.

  • A clear vision on safety and quality and the ability to translate this vision into concrete behavior, agreements, and demonstrable results.

  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English

The role

Help build an essential part of the Dutch energy transition. As Technical Manager, you connect design, realization, and testing & commissioning within one of the most complex energy infrastructure projects in the Netherlands.

What you'll do

As Technical Manager, you and your team are responsible for the integral technical management of the onshore stations in Borssele. Your responsibility covers the entire project cycle: from design and work preparation to realization, testing & commissioning, and the technical handover to the client.

You lead a multidisciplinary technical team and monitor the cohesion between civil works, architecture, steel structures, building-related installations, high-voltage and conversion installations, and control and security systems. You ensure that designs are safe, feasible, and manageable, and that they demonstrably meet the contractual requirements, applicable standards, and the client's principles.

From the design phase onwards, you actively manage design quality, manufacturability, interfaces, risks, and timely decision-making. You organize effective design and technical reviews and ensure that the necessary information from suppliers, partners, and the client is available in a timely manner. You make technical bottlenecks transparent and, together with the team, ensure supported and practically feasible solutions.

During realization, you monitor that the work is executed according to the approved design. You connect engineering, execution, suppliers, and commissioning, and prevent interfaces between disciplines from leading to delays, rework, or failure costs. Under your leadership, changes and deviations are carefully assessed, recorded, and controlled. Testing & commissioning also falls under your responsibility. You ensure a coherent test and commissioning strategy, with clear responsibilities, release criteria, and a logical structure of inspections and tests. From factory and site acceptance tests to system integration, commissioning, and handover: you ensure that all installations function safely, demonstrably, and according to plan.

You make integral decisions regarding safety, quality, planning, costs, and technical risks. In doing so, you look beyond your own work package and oversee the consequences for all involved disciplines and project partners.

Since 1855, we have been building the Netherlands, in residential construction, utility construction, infrastructure, and technology. Our independence and long-term vision form the basis for this.

With a turnover of € 2.6 billion and over 3,700 colleagues, we are among the top of the Dutch construction sector. But ultimately, it is not about those figures for us. It is about people. About colleagues working together on projects you can be proud of—iconic and close to home—and contributing to solutions for societal issues.

Our ambitions are big. And we can only achieve them with committed people. That's why we invest in good employer practices and a working environment where you feel at home. Where you can be yourself, feel safe and speak your mind. So that you get the best out of yourself and, together with us, make more.

This is where you belong

You work within the Dura Vermeer team, which, together with the client, technology partners, suppliers, and executing parties, is responsible for the onshore stations in Borssele. These stations form a crucial link between offshore wind energy and the Dutch high-voltage grid.

You are part of the integral project management team and are a strong interlocutor for the project management, client, design teams, execution organization, suppliers, and collaboration partners. With substantive authority, overview, and connecting leadership, you create clarity and ensure that the project team collectively achieves the best technical result.
