The role

Do you want to gain practical experience in our constitutional and administrative law practice? Then this position as a working student at De Brauw in Amsterdam might be what you are looking for! As a working student, you will work approximately 15 hours per week, contributing long-term to ongoing matters. This is in contrast to a two-month full-time student internship.

What you'll do

You will conduct legal research, draft memos, and support the team in both national and international regulatory matters. You will participate in team meetings and practice sessions, thereby developing your professional and personal skills. You will work independently with support from your supervisors.

Our practice

Our public law practice deals with litigation for and advising state-owned enterprises and large corporate clients on issues in the fields of environmental law, energy and energy transition, state aid, and access to information, both nationally and internationally. For example, we advise on the Aramis project and the national hydrogen network, and we are involved in matters regarding nitrogen emissions at airports such as Schiphol. Furthermore, as legal advisor to the House of Representatives, we handle a wide spectrum of legal issues, from constitutional law to tax law. We also have a pro bono practice, within which we advise on matters such as human rights and EU law.

Why choose a role as a working student in regulation?

You will gain relevant work experience that aligns with your studies, build a valuable network, and develop essential skills in multidisciplinary teams at a leading law firm with an international focus. You will be guided by experts in the fields of public law and regulation. You will receive personal guidance with direct feedback and learn to tackle complex legal issues by working on real files.

Who are we looking for?

  • Master of Laws student with good academic results
  • Previous internship experience (at another firm)
  • Accurate and well-organized
  • Proactive, flexible, and independent attitude
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
  • Available for at least six months, 15 hours per week (alternative options are negotiable)

What does De Brauw offer you?

  • Personal guidance and multiple feedback moments from your supervisor.
  • An hourly wage of € 17.50 gross per hour and vacation days.
  • Full travel expense reimbursement
  • Regular fun activities such as sports activities, office events, training, and workshops
  • Free coffee at our barista and fresh fruit in the office.

What does our application procedure look like?

Step 1: Send your cover letter, CV, transcript, and your thesis and/or internship evaluation.

Step 2: Come for an interview with a recruiter and a lawyer from the practice. Complete an online personality questionnaire beforehand.

Step 3: Receive your offer in the event of a positive outcome.
