What we're looking for
- HBO (Bachelor's) level of working and thinking in the field of Mechanical Engineering and/or Shipbuilding Engineering;
- Technical background and several years of experience within a similar organization or field;
- Experience in coordinating and managing technical projects, preferably within the maritime sector.
- Possesses knowledge and experience of various drawing programs;
- Broad knowledge of the shipbuilding industry and relevant markets;
- Basic knowledge of hydraulics and marine electronics;
- Interpreting regulations from various classification societies.
- Good commercial and interpersonal skills;
Nice to have
- Good command of the Dutch and English languages; command of the German language is a plus.

These include coastal, deep-sea, offshore, ocean-going, inland waterway, naval, and superyacht sectors. What you'll do
The Proposal Engineer focuses on providing technical support for commercial activities and forms the link between the customer, sales, and engineering. The role involves technical, commercial, and analytical tasks, where customer inquiries are translated into technically feasible and commercially attractive solutions.
As the technical point of contact for customers and colleagues, as a Proposal Engineer you are involved in the entire process, from the initial customer request through to the delivery of products from the DMC portfolio, such as thrusters, steering gear, rudders, hydraulic systems, and winches. In collaboration with the relevant Sales Area and product group, proposals are developed that align with customer needs and the capabilities of DMC.
Additionally, the Proposal Engineer contributes to the development of new products, the optimization of existing designs, and the management of the product portfolio.
- Preparing designs and quotes during the proposal phase, including feasibility assessments;
- Coordination with customers regarding requirements and wishes during the design process;
- Preparing general arrangements and writing technical specifications;
- Developing technical solutions together with suppliers and subcontractors;
- Translating customer wishes and class requirements into suitable designs and proposals;
- Preparing correct requests for cost calculations, delivery times, and production;
- Monitoring cost calculations in collaboration with Sales;
- Internal and external guidance of sold projects up to and including the kick-off.
