Internship Work Preparation and/or Execution

Maintaining our highways together. Go for it!

Do you want to experience how large infrastructure projects are prepared and executed during your internship? During this working internship in the Rotterdam region, you will get the chance to work on the major variable maintenance of the A16, A20, and A2.

Together with experienced colleagues, you ensure that activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and according to schedule. The special thing about this internship is that you are not only involved in the preparation of the work, but you are also present when the work is carried out outdoors. This way, you get a complete picture of road construction.

Within the project team, you work on the maintenance of our highways throughout the Netherlands. Think, for example, of replacing asphalt layers, lowering verges, renewing guardrails, and performing repairs to roads and structures. There is also a focus on the environment through sustainable asphalt and the reuse of materials.

You support both the work preparation and the execution. As a result, you discover how a project progresses from preparation to realization and you work together with various colleagues within the project team.

• You help with drafting work plans and support the preparation of activities.
• You support the ordering of materials and, together with the team, keep an eye on the schedule.
• You accompany supervisors on the construction site and support daily activities.
• You help with inspections, checks, and quality inspections.
• You keep sight of the progress of the work and contribute to the safe and efficient execution of the activities.

You prefer to learn by doing. You actively observe colleagues, ask questions to properly understand activities and processes, and take on more responsibilities step by step. In doing so, you are curious about everything involved in the preparation and execution of large-scale maintenance projects.

• You are following an MBO, Associate Degree, or HBO education in Civil Engineering, or in Geotechnical, Road, and Water Engineering.
• You possess a B driving license.
