Professional knowledge: You have a solid background in transport and planning, and you understand exactly how urban distribution works. A higher professional education (HBO) level of working and thinking, supplemented by a degree in supply chain.
Vision: You look beyond tomorrow and understand where urban distribution is moving. You have a clear view on sustainability and know how to translate long-term goals into feasible policy.
Connection on the floor: You stand among your people and speak the language of the drivers. You are approachable and build a cohesive team of colleagues who enjoy working for you.
Mentality: You are a down-to-earth leader with vision. You actively build a positive working atmosphere within the department.
Salary: A gross monthly salary between € 4,500 and € 6,200 (based on 40 hours per week) depending on your experience.
13x salary: We pay out every 4 weeks, so you receive wages 13 times per year.
Hours: You work 36 to 40 hours per week.
Extras: Fresh fruit and soup are provided daily at the location, 25 vacation days, a good pension scheme, and access to over 100 online training courses.
To be clear: As Head of Transport, you determine the transport strategy for our Schiedam location and are part of the MT. You focus on the long term, process optimization, and the further transition to zero-emissions, while coaching managers to ensure the operation runs smoothly.
Strategy & MT: You look ahead, draw up the transport budget, and ensure the department stays on track. Additionally, you advise the site manager on the strategic course. You work with hard data to structurally improve processes and the load factor.
Policy & networking: The rules surrounding urban distribution are changing rapidly. You participate in board meetings and hold discussions with municipalities, working groups, and external partners. Together, you determine the optimal policy for supplying our customers and the further transition to zero-emissions.
Leadership: You hold ultimate responsibility for the entire transport department. You direct and coach the team leaders and planners, so that they can ensure the department of approximately 85 colleagues can work safely.
The reality: Our location in Schiedam supplies the busy region between Alphen aan den Rijn, Rotterdam, and Dordrecht. That means navigating through a traffic-sensitive region daily and responding smartly to the increasingly strict environmental zones in the surrounding cities. The challenge of this position lies in future-proofing. You ensure that we continue to supply our customers well today, while we adapt our policy and our processes to the ever-stricter rules regarding zero-emissions and regional accessibility.
