Requirements:

• You possess at least a completed HBO (higher professional education) degree.

• You have experience working for Rijkswaterstaat.

• You have at least 3 years of work experience as a communications advisor and demonstrable experience with environmental communication.

• You have demonstrable experience with communication within politically and administratively sensitive environments and organizations.

• You have demonstrable experience as a communications advisor within projects with an area-based approach in the Drechtsteden and knowledge of the relevant stakeholders, administrative relations, and environmental dynamics.

• You have demonstrable experience within a project team in which renovation works were carried out by a contractor and you have supported or coordinated the communication between the client, the contractor, and stakeholders.

Additional preferences:

• You have experience organizing meetings together with Zuid-Holland Bereikbaar.

• You have experience with area-oriented communication.

• You establish contact easily with communications advisors outside your own organization.

• You have experience working within Rijkswaterstaat West-Nederland Zuid.

• You have gained experience at both client and contractor organizations within infrastructural, construction, or renovation projects.

• You have experience with communication for both road traffic and waterway traffic.

We are looking for a Communications Advisor for the renewal task of the Verkeersbrug Dordrecht on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat. Rijkswaterstaat works daily on a safe, livable, and accessible Netherlands. Within the West-Netherlands South region, large-scale renovation and replacement tasks for bridges, tunnels, locks, and viaducts will be central in the coming years.

As a communications advisor, you are responsible for developing, advising, coordinating, and executing the internal and external communication surrounding the renovation of the Verkeersbrug Dordrecht. You ensure that road users, waterway users, local residents, businesses, administrators, and other stakeholders are informed in a timely, understandable, and transparent manner about progress, works, nuisance, and accessibility measures.

You contribute to an area-oriented communication approach and work together with communications advisors from other projects to arrive at a consistent and understandable communication strategy within the region.

1. Drafting and executing an integrated communication plan and communication strategy for the renovation of the Verkeersbrug Dordrecht.

2. Advising the project management team on communication issues and communication strategies.

3. Coordinating internal and external communication towards stakeholders.

4. Providing communication outputs, such as resident letters, news reports, web content, social media content, and presentations.

5. Drafting and executing communication calendars and communication campaigns.

6. Aligning and collaborating with Zuid-Holland Bereikbaar and communication professionals from involved parties.

7. Contributing to an area-oriented communication approach for infrastructural projects in the region

Start: 1 November 2026

Hours: 12 hours per week

Contract length: 12 months with an option to extend.
