The role

We are looking for a Board Advisor for the Centraal Orgaan opvang Asielzoekers (COA) [Central Agency for Asylum Seeker Reception]. In this strategic advisory role, you will operate at the intersection of governance, politics, operations, and external stakeholders. You will monitor developments from ministries, chain partners, and the social environment and translate these into concrete administrative advice for the COA.

Within the Board Advisory team, you will support the board and management with complex issues involving a political-administrative component. You will ensure that relevant developments find their way into the organization in a timely manner and actively bridge the gap between administrative decision-making and daily practice at reception locations. In doing so, you will maintain intensive contacts with ministries, collaboration partners, and other external parties and make a significant contribution to the strategic positioning of the COA.

This assignment offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced advisor with a sense for political-administrative relations, social developments, and public service delivery.

What you'll do

  • Advising and supporting the board and management at a strategic and organization-wide level.

  • Interpreting assignments from ministries and advising on implementation within the COA.

  • Identifying, analyzing, and translating social, political, and administrative developments into policy and organizational advice.

  • Preparing and supporting administrative discussions with ministries, chain partners, and other stakeholders.

  • Representing the COA in official and administrative consultations.

  • Contributing to the preparation of parliamentary debates, memos, and answers to parliamentary questions.

  • Developing and maintaining relevant internal and external networks.

  • Connecting signals from operations with strategic and administrative decision-making.

  • Advising on risks, integrity, balancing interests, and decision-making processes.

  • Participating in organization-wide projects and programs.
