The role

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of people with visual impairments through scientific research?

At Bartiméus, we bring science and practice together to improve the lives of people with visual impairments. Do you want to help professionals translate practical questions into sound and feasible scientific research? In doing so, you will contribute to knowledge that truly matters!

What you'll do

As an applied scientific research advisor, you advise and guide professionals and project leaders in developing relevant practical questions into feasible, methodologically strong, and carefully designed research projects. You support them in formulating and defining research questions, developing research proposals and protocols, and making evidence-based choices regarding research design, statistics, testing, laws and regulations, and data management. The professional remains the owner and project leader of the research. Your guidance aligns not only with the nature of the research but also with the knowledge and experience of the professionals involved. You ensure coordination regarding the research between care teams, professional or expertise groups, management, and the researcher, and you facilitate collaboration with external researchers at universities of applied sciences and universities.
In addition to providing support for research projects, you contribute to the further professionalization of Bartiméus's research infrastructure. You help develop clear working methods and quality frameworks and provide a substantive contribution to the data foundation for research, ensuring that data is recorded securely, carefully, findably, and reuseably.

  • You advise on appropriate qualitative and quantitative (Mixed Methods) research designs, statistical analyses, and the interpretation of research results.

  • You advise on assessment routes, laws and regulations, and the careful design of WMO-subject and non-WMO-subject research.

  • You guide researchers in FAIR data management and contribute substantively to the development of our data foundation for research.

  • You develop and update work processes, quality documents, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that support applied scientific research within Bartiméus.

  • Where appropriate, you advise on the scientific substantiation of grant applications, reports, and publications.
