The role

  • Your position

    As Category Manager CAPEX/MRO, you are responsible for the entire procurement process of technical materials and services, capital goods and investment projects. You develop and implement a category strategy that aligns with the organisation's objectives and ensures sustainable, innovative and cost-effective solutions.

    You are part of the Procurement team and report to the Director Procurement. In this role, you work closely with project teams, technical departments and suppliers. Together with two colleagues, you manage the strategically important CAPEX/MRO segment and work intensively with our colleagues at locations in the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden.

    From your area of expertise, you contribute substantively to technical projects and guide decision-making around suppliers, contracts, cost control and innovation.

    Your impact

    In this role, you have a direct influence on investment decisions, supplier performance and the further professionalisation of the procurement function. You ensure that projects are successfully supported by strong supplier relationships and future-proof contracts.

    Among other things, you will be involved in:

    • Developing and implementing category strategies.
    • Replacing the MRO category manager during leave
    • Selecting, contracting and maintaining relationships with suppliers.
    • Actively participating in project teams in a critical and advisory role.
    • Actively driving "Smarter Spending", including initiating and leading savings programmes
    • Identifying and actively managing market developments, risks and opportunities for supplier-enabled innovation.
    • Strengthening stakeholder management within multidisciplinary teams.
    • Contributing to the successful rollout of the new S2P programme within the categories
    • Promoting sustainability and responsible procurement within your category.
    Team & work environment

    You will work from the head office in Veendam. This is where the support departments and the management of Royal Avebe are located. In this environment, you will work together with professionals from a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, operations, finance, HR and ICT.

    Your capabilities
    • A completed WO (university) or HBO+ (higher professional) degree, preferably with a technical orientation.
    • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in procurement within the process industry.
    • Experience with project-based working within multidisciplinary teams.
    • Extensive knowledge of contract management and negotiation techniques.
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data and market information into strategic choices.
    • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
    • An independent working style combined with a strong team-oriented attitude.
    • Flexibility and adaptability within a changing organisational environment.
    • A challenger with a high energy level
    • NEVI 1 and 2 or a comparable qualification is a plus.
    • Good command of both Dutch and English; knowledge of German is a plus, and you are willing to travel between the various locations.
