As an Integral Design Lead Hydraulic Structures, you are responsible for the integral design of crucial hydraulic objects, such as pumping stations, weirs, culverts, inlet and outlet works, fish passages, harbor structures, and other non-flood defense structures. You work on projects that contribute to water safety, water management, climate resilience, and the replacement and renovation challenges of the Netherlands. You lead multidisciplinary design teams and act as the substantive hub between the client, design discipline(s), asset managers, environmental specialists, and executing parties. From the initiative phase to the detailed design, you steer towards quality, manufacturability, integrality, and safety.

In this role:

• You lead and coordinate integral design processes for hydraulic structures, in which civil engineering, geotechnics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, control engineering, hydraulics, and sustainability converge.

• From your substantive role in projects, you build a strategic relationship with clients

• You maintain contact with clients, stakeholders, and managers, and persuasively explain design choices

• You lay out design strategy and design choices, including system integration, validation, and verification according to SE methodology.

• You safeguard requirements management, interfaces, risks, and design decisions within the SE process and actively steer your design team towards them

• You work on new construction, renovation, and replacement, including assessments of existing structures, residual life research, failure mechanisms, hydraulic and structural analyses, and the formulation of reinforcement or replacement strategies.

• You coordinate multidisciplinary teams in the fields of civil, mechanical, electrical/instrumentation, geotechnics, BIM, costs, and contract.

• You translate technical content into contract documents (UAV‑GC, RAW) and provide input for contract preparation, tenders, and procurement.

• You stimulate knowledge sharing and innovation, including around sustainability, circularity, digital twins, parametric design, and automation of design processes
