The role

Do you want to work as a design lead rivers & dykes on the largest water safety projects in the Netherlands? From Papendrecht and project locations throughout the country, you will provide direction to complex designs for dike reinforcements and river projects such as Zwolle-Olst, Meandering Maas, and the Markermeer dykes. Here, you combine engineering, leadership, and social impact in one job.

Go for it!

As design lead rivers & dykes, you are the driving force behind the design of complex hydraulic engineering projects. You bring different disciplines together, determine the design direction, and ensure that projects are realized within scope, schedule, quality, and budget. In doing so, you switch effortlessly between strategic choices, technical challenges, and the daily management of design teams.

You work closely with modelers, advisors, project teams, and external engineering firms. Whether you are in the office or out on a project site, you always maintain an overview and ensure that all design disciplines work together optimally toward a safe and future-proof result.

What you'll do

  • Determining the design direction for dike reinforcements, river projects, and other hydraulic engineering works.
  • Leading design teams and connecting different disciplines into one integral design.
  • Monitoring scope, schedule, quality, and budget and reporting on these to project management.
  • Identifying contract deviations and advising on appropriate solutions within the project.
  • Contributing to the further development of the design department through knowledge sharing and innovation.

Do you recognize yourself in this?

You enjoy providing direction to design teams and know how to bring people with different backgrounds together around a common goal. In doing so, you maintain an overview, make well-considered choices, and dare to take responsibility for the final result. You communicate easily with colleagues, clients, and partners and switch smoothly between technical depth and project interests.
