For our Mechanical Engineering team within the MEP Business Unit, we are looking for an enthusiastic and driven mechanical engineer/designer. As an engineer, you will be part of one or more project teams. You are responsible for performing mechanical design activities, associated calculations, and coordinating and aligning with other installations and disciplines.

Role responsibilities:
In the role of Mechanical Engineer, you will work on mechanical installations for, among others, tunnels, bridges, locks, ports, and terminals. The team's activities include engineering, cost estimation, drafting tender documents, and providing support during the execution phase, such as testing and guidance. This concerns both new construction as well as existing construction and asset management.

This includes, among other things, installations such as tunnel ventilation, overpressure systems, sprinklers, fire extinguishing systems, and pump systems.

The main responsibilities of the role are:

• Designing mechanical installations within infrastructure projects, composed of standard market components (off-the-shelf products) based on project-specific performance requirements.
• Performing dimensioning, design calculations, and other engineering activities.
• Drafting design documentation and requirements and specification documents for mechanical installations based on systems engineering.
• Working in a BIM environment and coordinating with modelers.
• Performing RAMS studies and reviewing designs and specifications, including second opinions.
• Collaborating with various disciplines within Arcadis.
• Communicating with clients and other stakeholders regarding the content and progress of projects.
• Thinking along about quotes and follow-up assignments based on your technical expertise.

Projects the business unit is working on are:

• Zuidas Amsterdam, both the station and the road tunnel;
• Renovation IJ tunnel Amsterdam;
• Fraser river tunnel (Vancouver);
• Amsterdam Centraal Station;
• Vught verdiept.
