What you'll do

Role description:
In your role as an energy systems specialist, you will play a key role in the development, expansion, and optimization of electrical infrastructures for the energy transition. You will work on challenging projects in the fields of electrification of industry, infrastructure, and utilities, grid reinforcement, connection of renewable generation, and large-scale grids. You possess a broad technical perspective and enjoy thinking along about innovative and sustainable energy solutions for complex issues.

You will be part of the Energy Systems team within the MEP Business Unit. The business unit totals approximately 55 people. The projects, both domestically and abroad, relate to the installations of infrastructural works.

The projects we are currently working on from this expertise are:

Shore power projects for various terminals in the Netherlands and the rest of the world.
Electrification of bus networks for, among others, GVB Amsterdam (electrification of mobility/public transport)
Energy systems for the Fraser River tunnel (Vancouver, Canada), and various other tunnels worldwide
Electrification of industry and sustainability of buildings
Various projects for the grid operators Tennet and Stedin
Various ProRail projects for electrification, substation replacement, and energy supply for various NS and ProRail installations.

Role responsibilities:
The activities you perform are very diverse and consist of:

Designing, analyzing, and optimizing low-voltage, medium-voltage, and high-voltage systems (LV/MV/HV)
Performing grid calculations, load flows, short-circuit calculations, and selectivity studies
Advising on electrification issues, grid connections, and grid reinforcements
Drafting technical specifications, reports, and advice
Coordinating and supervising sub-projects and junior colleagues
Identifying technical risks and opportunities, and following relevant market developments

Qualifications & Experience

Completed HBO/WO degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, or similar
3-5 years of work experience with medium-voltage/high-voltage systems and/or electrification projects
Experience with relevant software (such as ETAP, Vision, EPLAN etc.)
Knowledge of standards and regulations (such as NEN 3140, NEN 3840, Netcode)
Analytically strong, independent, communicative, and customer-oriented
Good command of the Dutch and English languages
