Clinical Pathologist

As of 1 December 2026, we have a vacancy in our team for a clinical pathologist. We are looking for a colleague who will focus on breast diagnostics. Preferably, you also have an affinity with cytology. In principle, this initially concerns an appointment for one year, with the possibility of extension.

The Antoni van Leeuwenhoek (AVL) is an internationally renowned oncological center with a unique patient population, where patient care and scientific research go hand in hand. Pathology fulfills a unique bridging function between the research into disease mechanisms and the application of that knowledge in daily clinical practice.

The field of pathology is constantly in motion, and that certainly applies to our department. PA diagnostics form the basis for the optimal diagnosis and treatment of patients, of which molecular diagnostics is an integral part.

At present, 18 pathologists, 5 clinical molecular biologists in pathology (KMBP), 1 KMBP in training, and 1 laboratory specialist in clinical genetics (LSKG) work in our department. Together, these disciplines shape the execution and innovation of our diagnostics.

There are also teams of enthusiastic and committed analysts, bioinformaticians, and support staff.

Your duties as a clinical pathologist have a strong multidisciplinary character, where the lines of consultation within the institute are short and efficient. The department participates in the training of pathologists and in the training of KMBPs. Characteristic of our department is a pleasant and open working atmosphere. We have a modern and well-equipped laboratory including extensive molecular tumor diagnostics, germline diagnostics, and cytology.

• You are a registered clinical pathologist or have almost completed your training as a pathologist

• You have excellent communication skills
