As an ANIOS Internal Medicine, you will be prepared for your next step. You will work in the clinical departments and can shadow in the OR, clinical departments, or non-clinical departments. In this program, you will receive all the tools to develop yourself both substantively and personally. After this program, you will have become familiar with providing oncological care and will have built up sufficient knowledge, skills, and experience to take your next step. Or perhaps you will transition into one of our PhD positions? The TOP Program offers you a unique opportunity to start and explore your career as a physician in a versatile way, whether that is in oncology or beyond.

What will you do?

You will work as a ward doctor - ANIOS Internal Medicine - and care for patients in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, and Neurology, as well as admitting acutely ill patients via our emergency unit. You will also find patients in the department who are admitted for clinical chemo-/immunotherapy.

To be able to perform these tasks well, you will start with an induction program, and we do this truly differently at the AVL. We want to be innovative not only in our treatments and research, but also in our way of learning and working. Our induction program consists of an escape room where you learn multidisciplinarily. After that, we have an intensive induction program in the department, so that you can start working independently and confidently.

You will join a team with other ANIOS. Additionally, you will work closely with the internist team and AIOS. You will do this, among other things, during handovers and supervision. Contact with specialists/AIOS is low-threshold. At the AVL, we work with short lines and with great involvement from the specialists.

In addition to coming to work with us, learning, and gaining experience, we also believe it is important that we support you well in the direction where you see your future. We do this with the TOP Program. We begin with a future plan. After that, we look at what this means for your professional and personal development. There are a number of development activities that you will go through together with your ANIOS group, and you will work with customized learning activities that align with your future plan.

• Every Tuesday consultation with medical microbiology PICO education ABCDE course

• CRM training, professional modules, and interdisciplinary education

• Trainings specifically developed for ANIOS

• Reflection meetings (based on the Vital Brave Doctor trainings)

• A fixed mentor and shadowing opportunities with other specialties of your choice
