The role
At Adjust, we believe that social impact and high-performing organizations begin with reliable internal control and transparent governance. As an Operational Auditor, you help organizations improve their governance, risk management, and internal control. You investigate how processes are designed, map out risks and areas for improvement, and advise on concrete solutions. In this way, you provide boards, management, and supervisory boards with insight into the quality of operations and the extent to which risks are controlled.
What makes the consultancy side of this role interesting?
You work for various organizations and therefore deal with diverse issues, risks, and working methods. You quickly get to know new organizations and look beyond just the processes on paper. You engage in dialogue with stakeholders, discuss your findings, and advise on improvements that work in practice. In doing so, you interface with different organizational levels, from process owners to executives and supervisors.
You are not alone in this. You work together with an experienced team of audit, control, and risk professionals with whom you can spar on technical matters. Additionally, you can count on guidance to further develop your profession. You are given the autonomy to work with clients, with colleagues you can rely on when you want to consult or further explore an issue.
What will you do?
In this role, you combine performing audits with advising on the quality of operations. You assess how organizations manage their processes and risks and help them implement improvements where necessary.
You plan, execute, and report on operational audits to assess the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control.
You identify risks, assess existing control measures, and make concrete improvement proposals based on your findings.
You test compliance with relevant laws and regulations and sector-specific guidelines within the organizations where you work.
You prepare audit reports with clear conclusions and recommendations and monitor their follow-up.
You discuss findings with process owners and management, advise on improvements, and help organizations better embed risk management into their daily working methods.
You share your knowledge with colleagues and, where appropriate, contribute to the guidance and development of employees at clients.
Which of these describe you?
You look critically at processes and control measures, work accurately, and know how to translate your findings into practical recommendations. You understand that a good audit is not just about identifying risks, but also about the conversation regarding them and the willingness to implement improvements.
In addition, you bring:
A completed HBO (higher professional education) or WO (university) degree, for example in Accountancy, Business Administration, or Control.
At least three years of relevant work experience as an Operational Auditor or in a comparable audit function.
Thorough knowledge of internal control, risk management, compliance, and relevant laws and regulations.
Experience with audit methodologies and preferably with ERP systems, such as AFAS, SAP, or Exact.
Good communication skills. You can interface between different organizational levels, convey your findings clearly, and know how to create support for improvements in a constructive manner.
A completed or ongoing advanced qualification, such as RO (Register Operational Auditor), RA, RE, or a post-HBO course in Internal Audit, is a plus.
