What we're looking for

You communicate clearly and persuasively and naturally work across disciplines. With your connecting approach, you ensure support, collaboration, and strong results. Furthermore, you bring:

A completed university degree in the direction of ecology, biology, or environmental sciences, with at least 7 years of relevant work experience;
Experience in drafting design plans and LESA's, and in guiding integral area processes;
Proficiency in drafting substantively strong reports, GIS, and data processing;
Up-to-date knowledge of legal frameworks, nature policy, and programs in the Netherlands.
Excellent command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written.

The role

Due to significant growth in the Netherlands, WSP wants to strengthen its expertise in the field of ecology in Nieuwegein .

As a Senior System Ecologist, you are the integral thinker who approaches landscapes as coherent systems. You connect abiotic factors, biotic factors, and human use, and translate complex ecological processes into clear insights and substantiated advice. With your landscape ecological perspective, you help clients—from governments to area coalitions—in making future-proof choices.

At WSP, you work on projects where ecology is a guiding factor, such as design plans, nature management plans, LESA's, and integral area developments. You work on various projects, such as: Ruimte voor de Rivier 2.0, Herinrichting rivier de Worm, Oeffelt and Gebiedsvisie Weerterbos en Laarderheide. In these projects, you combine landscape ecological data, GIS analyses, and area knowledge into clear reports. Additionally, you take the lead in (sub)projects, mentor colleagues, and serve as a strong interlocutor for clients and stakeholders. You switch effortlessly between content, process, and policy, making complex issues understandable.

You will be given plenty of room to shape your own role, identify opportunities in the field, and translate these into new projects that you develop and realize together with the team.
