What we're looking for

  • You have completed a relevant HBO or WO degree, supplemented with at least 3 years of ecological work experience at a medium to large contractor, consultancy, or engineering firm.
  • You know the ins and outs of nature activities within the Environment Act and you come up with solutions when there are bottlenecks.
  • You are able to work well independently in projects, under the guidance of the team of ecologists.
  • You have humor, positive energy, persuasiveness, a decisive attitude, and a passion for nature-inclusive construction, with a realistic view of the world.

Pay & benefits

What you'll get

  • A dynamic working environment: A job where you can make an impact at a leading company and where you are part of a diverse (international) team of experts.
  • Salary and more: 26 vacation days, a number of collectively designated days, and a premium free pension, company schemes such as collective health insurance, and a lease car.
  • Career opportunities: Plenty of opportunities to get the most out of your career, both personally and professionally. Challenge yourself with (online) training in our Boskalis Academy.

The role

Make a difference by putting nature and biodiversity on the map in our projects!

Boskalis is changing the map of the Netherlands, and as an ecologist, you can contribute to this. Do you want to work on large infrastructural projects such as Meanderende Maas or the widening of the A2 between Het Vonderen and Kerensheide? Then this is your chance!

Boskalis now offers you the ultimate opportunity to make an ecological difference. We are looking for an ecologist who, like no other, knows how to give nature and biodiversity the best possible place in projects. We are looking for someone with strong persuasive powers who can advise our tender and project teams and is able to steer towards ecologically responsible and commercially viable solutions.

Step into our boots and let your passion for nature and biodiversity come to life in our projects. From creating 380 hectares of new nature in the floodplains to restoring vulnerable Natura 2000 areas such as the Wieden, and integrating a new road into the existing natural environment. Every day offers new opportunities to build something and have a lasting impact. Join us and let your creativity and expertise shape nature, while working towards a better future for our planet.

Our ambition? Not just to be a contractor, but a contractor with an eye for nature.

What you'll do

  • You are the connecting link between environmental managers, designers, executors, subcontractors, and clients, to safeguard the ecological quality in projects.
  • With your legal expertise and thorough risk assessment from the perspective of nature legislation, including effective management measures, you give the green light for a successful start to our work.
  • You provide requested and unsolicited advice to the project team and know how to explain your ideas convincingly, thereby creating support within the project team and with the client.
  • You see opportunities to do something extra for nature, without losing sight of the project objectives, technology, budget, and requirements.
  • You are the expert who has all ecological aspects under their control in a tender or execution project. You ensure that permits and management measures are arranged on time according to the Environment Act (Omgevingswet), are implemented in the execution planning, and are actually carried out.

How you'll work

  • Boskalis campus: Experience the unique Boskalis vibe at our location in Papendrecht, complete with restaurants, sports fields, and a quay where our ships dock. We offer a state-of-the-art auditorium, brainstorm rooms, an experience center for client meetings, and a new coffee spot where you can meet with colleagues.
  • Young Boskalis: Are you younger than 36? Then join Young Boskalis! Monthly social and sporting activities, ranging from pub quizzes, yoga, and boot camps to an annual sailing race. Networking and sharing knowledge are also an important part of Young Boskalis.
  • Your team: Within Boskalis Netherlands, you will be part of the Ecology department within the Environment cluster. This department consists of 8 ecologists who work together on diverse projects. The Environment cluster as a whole consists of 25 colleagues, including Environmental Managers, Permit Managers, and our Ecology department. We support the business lines within Boskalis and are involved in both large and small projects, in both the tender and execution phases.
  • Where you will work: We work hybrid. In consultation with your manager and your team, you will regularly work in the construction site office, partly from home, and partly in the office.
  • Full-time/ part-time: This concerns an appointment of 32-40 hours per week.
