Senior Urban Nature Ecologist

• Strategically advising on nature-inclusive solutions, biodiversity, and the sustainable design of urban areas;
• Integrating ecological knowledge with legislation and economic interests into clear advice;
• Translating developments in policy and legislation into opportunities for clients and projects.
• Working on, among other things, Species Management Plans (SMPs) and contributing to nature-inclusive construction;
• Setting up, supervising, and managing studies such as quick scans, species-specific research, activity plans, and EWPs.
• Maintaining relationships with clients and contributing to acquisition;
• Acting as an ambassador and driver for the theme of urban nature.

Within the Urban Nature team, we advise clients on the design and realization of a sustainable and healthy living environment, both in the city and beyond. We work integrally and seek economically feasible solutions that strengthen biodiversity in the built environment. As a Senior Urban Nature Ecologist, you combine ecological expertise with strategic insight and a sharp eye for laws and regulations. You know what a sustainable urban environment should look like and see opportunities to connect nature and people in an innovative way.

You will work together with a dedicated team of ecologists on projects that contribute to a resilient and biodiverse city. In doing so, you advise clients such as provinces, environmental services, and housing associations on species protection and nature development. You translate complex issues into clear, applicable advice and monitor the balance between nature, economy, and policy.

• You bring senior experience within ecology (preferably approximately 8-10+ years);
• Demonstrable knowledge of laws and regulations regarding species protection, particularly in the urban environment;
• Affinity with urban nature and nature-inclusive construction;
• Experience in guiding and managing colleagues;
• Knowledge of species and habitats;
• Knowledge of data systems and/or analysis techniques;
• A relevant network within the field and adjacent policy areas is a plus;
• Good command of the Dutch and English languages.
