Overhead Line Engineer

Due to strong growth within this sector, WSP Power & Energy is further expanding its 'Civil' department. We are currently looking for an Overhead Line Engineer to strengthen our team in Arnhem.

We are looking for a professional who wants to work within our Power & Energy business unit. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and engineering of overhead high-voltage lines and the connection structures at high-voltage stations.

You will be involved in:

• Contributing to some of the most important infrastructure projects supporting the energy transition. You will help grid operators expand and strengthen the electricity grid to meet future demand and support contractors in the realization and commissioning of new infrastructure projects.

• Contributing to projects ranging from 110 kV to 380 kV transmission systems.

• Contributing to the design of high-voltage connections and the interfaces with high-voltage stations.

• Performing structural analyses and calculations for lattice towers, foundations, line loads, and conductor dimensioning.

• Working with leading software packages such as PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, and RFEM.

• Preparing technical reports, design drawings, and project documentation.

• Collaborating with senior engineers and taking responsibility for defined work packages within multidisciplinary projects.

• Supporting project planning and the execution and installation phase.

• Continuously developing your technical knowledge and skills through challenging projects, guidance, and training opportunities.

• Depending on your ambitions and experience, you will receive opportunities to grow into roles such as Lead Engineer, Project Manager, or Technical Specialist within WSP's international Power & Energy organization.

You will join our Structural Engineering & Design group in Arnhem, consisting of approximately 35 engineers and modelers working on overhead high voltage lines, high voltage substations, and grid expansion projects in the Netherlands and Europe.

You will become part of one of the most experienced groups for overhead high-voltage connections in the Netherlands, working on strategic projects that contribute to the electricity supply of the future.

The core of the group is formed by a close-knit and highly experienced Overhead Lines team.

You will work closely with colleagues from various disciplines on the design and realization of complex high-voltage line projects. It is a proactive and diverse team with a strong focus on collaboration. You will have the chance to contribute to a wide range of challenging and interesting projects in the Netherlands and beyond. The group works mainly from one location and consists of a mix of Dutch and international employees. In daily practice, Dutch and English are used interchangeably.

• An enthusiastic and driven engineer with 3 to 8 years of relevant work experience, who wants to further develop their career within an international organization.

• Candidates already living in the Netherlands are welcome to apply, as are international candidates willing to relocate to the Netherlands.
