Requirements

What we're looking for

  • You are nearly finished with a HBO or WO degree in ICT & Technology, Industrial IT, Software Engineering, Industrial Automation, Game/Simulation Technology, or a similar field.
  • You have a demonstrable interest in software architecture, 3D development, simulation/emulation, and logistics automation.
  • You can design and realize independently, but actively seek coordination with software engineers, project teams, and end users.
  • Knowledge of .NET, SQL, API connections, version control, and a 3D engine is a plus. More importantly, you quickly master new techniques.
  • You work in a structured manner, test your assumptions, and can clearly substantiate technical choices.

Nice to have

  • A pleasant, informal working atmosphere and tailored guidance by enthusiastic professionals
  • Plenty of room for your innovative ideas
  • A graduation placement with plenty of variety within a network that is constantly in motion
  • (Growth) opportunities after completing your assignment
  • Flexible working hours

The role

Goods-to-Person (GtP) solutions with Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) are becoming increasingly important within logistics automation. When designing such a solution, choices must be made regarding the warehouse layout, the number of robots, the configuration of workstations, traffic flows, buffer locations, and control from WMS/WCS. These choices influence each other and are difficult to assess integrally in an early project phase.

With the advent of AI and modern 3D technology, we can develop realistic emulation environments ourselves. With this, we want to not only calculate concepts but also make them visible, connect them to our own software, and test them with representative order data.

You will design and build a configurable 3D emulation model of a GtP picking environment. In this virtual environment, brand-independent AMRs drive between storage locations and picking stations. The picking actions of operators are visualized and processed at the workstations. The environment must be able to work integrally with algorithms from our WMS/WCS and with a dataset of orders and order lines. This creates an experimental environment in which different system configurations can be repeatedly executed, observed, and compared.

What you'll do

  • You will work on a tangible and visual result that directly addresses current issues within warehouse automation. The combination of 3D, AI, AMRs, logistics processes, and WMS/WCS makes this a broad assignment with room for both research and software development.
