Manufacturing Engineer NPI in Eindhoven

The role

As an NPI Manufacturing Engineer at VDL GL Precision, you are responsible for the industrialization of new products and modules. You ensure that innovative designs are translated into a stable, reproducible, and scalable production process. From the very first prototypes, you are involved in technical choices regarding manufacturability, process setup, and risks. You work closely with project teams consisting of, among others, Project Managers, Mechanical Engineers, CAM Engineers, Quality Engineers, Metrology Specialists, Buyers, and colleagues from production. Additionally, you participate in technical reviews with customers and suppliers and make an active contribution to Design for Manufacturing (DfM). You are the connecting link between engineering and production and ensure that new products are successfully transferred to series production.

• Developing, implementing, and releasing production processes for new products and modules.
• Drafting process flows, manufacturing dossiers, work instructions, and other project deliverables.
• Assessing and controlling production risks through, among other things, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and process validations.
• Defining, introducing, and optimizing tooling, fixtures, and production equipment.
• Guiding prototype, pilot, and first series productions.
• Analyzing and improving processes in the areas of quality, lead time, delivery reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Acting as the technical point of contact for customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders during the NPI process.
• Initiating and guiding improvement projects within both engineering and production.

You will join the Engineering & Technology team, where approximately 28 engineers work, including 8 Manufacturing Engineers. You report to the Group Lead Engineering. As a result, as a Manufacturing Engineer, you not only gain insight into the entire production process, but you also have actual influence on every phase of industrialization. You work on projects for customers in, among others, the semiconductor, aerospace, and analytical industries, where high demands are placed on accuracy, quality, and process control.

Your strength

• You possess a technical HBO (higher professional education) degree (e.g., Mechanical Engineering) or have experience at a comparable level.
• You have experience with industrial manufacturing technology, preferably in the high-tech market.
• You have knowledge of production processes; experience with turning, milling, grinding, or EDM is a plus.
• You are familiar with process control in production environments (CTQ, P-Flow, SPC, FMEA, Control Plan).
• As a person, you are reliable, professional, show initiative, are stress-resistant, accurate, flexible, and driven to take on challenges.
• Given the central role of this position, you are communicatively skilled.
