Legal Counsel

The role

For our central legal department in Eindhoven, we are looking for a Legal Counsel with 4-6 years of experience. In this role, you will provide legal support to VDL companies and the senior management of VDL Group on diverse topics such as commercial contracts, compliance, and disputes.

You are a true business partner for the organization: you can explain complex legal issues in a clear and practical manner and confidently support the decision-making of business leaders. You play a key role in negotiations, drafting agreements, and safeguarding VDL's business objectives, while managing legal risks.

The position requires flexibility and resilience. You often work under time pressure in a dynamic, fast-changing environment and work closely with colleagues within the group and internationally.

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts (supply, procurement, cooperation, distribution, etc.).
• Advising on commercial issues, liability, intellectual property, and compliance.
• Reporting directly to the senior management within VDL Group.
• Supporting dispute resolution and claim handling, including managing external lawyers.
• Increasing legal awareness within the organization through training and practical guidelines.
• Contributing to multidisciplinary projects by translating legal frameworks into concrete solutions.

Your strength

• Completed Master's degree in Dutch law.
• 4-6 years of relevant experience as an in-house counsel and/or lawyer; experience at a law firm is a strong plus.
• Strong background in commercial contracts and negotiations.
• Practical-minded, solution-oriented, and able to link legal frameworks to business needs.
• Excellent writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly with both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative attitude, effective at all levels within the organization.
• Fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
• Affinity with technology and digital tools is a plus.
