Product Owner - Insurance Branch

Do you want to help determine which digital solutions we develop for the insurance market and research new opportunities together with customers? Do you get energy from connecting customer, business, and technology, and do you know how to translate needs into solutions that actually add value?

We are looking for a Product Owner for our Insurance branch. A broad role in which you stand close to both our customers and our development teams. You understand what is happening with customers and in the market, translate this into suitable solutions, and subsequently ensure that the right things are developed.

In this role, you are responsible for the substantive development and prioritization of our solutions, while simultaneously looking at the issues facing our customers.

You conduct conversations with customers about their processes, challenges, and ambitions. In doing so, you look not only at what a customer asks, but especially at the question behind it. What is the underlying need? Can we solve it with existing capabilities? Is further development needed? And is a solution that is relevant for one customer perhaps also interesting for other organizations in the market?

You bring those insights to TJIP. Together with Business Analysts, Software Engineers, and other colleagues, you translate them into concrete solutions and determine what receives priority.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

• Developing and communicating the product vision and roadmap for our solutions within Insurance;

• Maintaining contact with customers regarding their needs, processes, and future developments;

• Identifying opportunities with existing and potential customers;

• Understanding customer issues and translating them into suitable solutions;

• Assessing how customer requests fit within our existing products and product strategy;

• Translating market and customer needs into concrete product goals and backlog items;

• Prioritizing and managing the product backlog;

• Making and substantiating choices about what we do and do not develop;

• Collaborating closely with Software Engineers, Business Analysts, Project Management, and other colleagues;

• Following developments within the insurance market and translating these into opportunities for TJIP;

• Presenting and discussing solution directions with customers and internal stakeholders;

• Ensuring that what we develop actually adds value for customers and users.

You are an important link between the outside and inside worlds of TJIP.
At the customer, you are a substantive interlocutor. You understand the business and can think along about how processes can be organized more smartly or simply using technology.
Within TJIP, you ensure that these insights are translated into a clear direction for the product and the development team. You create overview, set priorities, and ensure that colleagues understand why certain choices are made.

In doing so, you look beyond a single individual customer request. You search for solutions that are scalable and reusable, thereby contributing to the further development of our services within the insurance market.

For this position, we are looking for someone who moves easily between customer, business, and IT. You can conduct conversations at various levels and simultaneously enjoy diving into the content together with a development team.

Additionally:

• You have HBO or WO working and thinking level;

• You have experience as a Product Owner, Business Consultant, or in a similar role;

• You have experience within an IT, software, or digital product environment;

• You can understand complex customer issues and translate them into concrete solutions;

• You have a sense for both customer interest and product interest and can make clear choices in that regard;

• You are commercially sensitive and recognize opportunities without having to fulfill a classic sales role;

• You can set priorities and involve stakeholders in the choices you make;

• You collaborate easily with both customers and technical colleagues;

• You take ownership and initiative;

• You have a good command of the Dutch and English languages.

Knowledge of or experience within the insurance industry is a clear advantage for this role. Preferably, you understand how insurers and other parties within the insurance chain work and find it interesting to deepen your knowledge in this domain.
