The role
How do you keep the Netherlands connected? Do you want to contribute to one of the greatest societal challenges of our time through strategic communication? For the Strategy & Positioning team within Corporate Affairs Netherlands (CAN), we are looking for a senior strategic communications advisor who connects, makes an impact, and provides direction (regarding the strategic theme Offshore).
The Netherlands is electrifying and becoming more sustainable at a high pace. To keep the Netherlands running, TenneT is expanding the high-voltage grid, innovating to better utilize the grid, and thus working towards a reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy system for the future. This requires communication that provides direction, connects interests, and makes complex themes understandable. In this role, you will contribute directly to the story and positioning of TenneT in an environment that is constantly in motion.
TenneT Netherlands is now looking for an experienced and strong senior communications advisor with a proven track record in the energy sector. In your role, you will advise senior management and the Executive Committee and provide direction to integrated internal and external communications regarding the strategic theme Offshore. Offshore wind is an important building block for a sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy system and contributes to energy independence. The development of offshore wind and the associated infrastructure takes place in a complex playing field, in which choices regarding space, investments, system integration, and international cooperation affect diverse interests and stakeholders. You will contribute to a clear interpretation of the energy system and the role of wind energy within it. Important themes include the new offshore wind energy roadmap, demand development, affordability, standardization and innovation, and European cooperation.
What you'll do
We are looking for an energetic, self-driven professional who takes the lead and can effectively switch between internal and external stakeholders at various levels. You are politically and socially sensitive, understand the complex playing field in which TenneT operates, and know how to set the right tone. You bring TenneT's viewpoints to the fore and invest in external networks. You bring the outside world in and understand what our internal and external stakeholders need. You combine strategic and tactical skills with operational activities, are decisive, and are strong in developing and executing communication plans. You write and communicate excellently in Dutch and English.
On the strategic themes within Corporate Affairs (CAN), you will work together with Political Affairs, media relations, the content team, and regional and project communications advisors. The CAN - Offshore team provides direction and cohesion for topics of a political, reputation-sensitive, or strategic nature and issues with a national, European, or administrative impact. Within this team, you will explicitly have a directing role, motivate others, and serve as the strategic communications partner for the Offshore division. You will develop the communication plan based on the CAN strategy in close cooperation with the offshore division and with your counterparts at KGG, RVO, and other involved governments and partners in the offshore chain. You will steer and assist in the execution and are able to develop content together with the content advisor based on complex issues, keeping stakeholders central.
Requirements
