At MEET RIVM, we are looking for a Lab Operator Technical Support for the technical management of laboratories at the Utrecht Science Park. You ensure that laboratory equipment, installations, and facilities function safely and reliably. In doing so, you connect researchers from the RIVM with suppliers, technicians, and internal colleagues.

As a Lab Operator Technical Support, you ensure that laboratory equipment, technical installations, and facilities remain safe and available. You work in the laboratory departments and support researchers with technical and facility-related questions.

You assess reports in the ticketing system, determine priorities, and coordinate technical activities. For example, you supervise the placement of equipment, coordinate with suppliers, and check the work of external technicians.

On the work floor, you identify deviations and opportunities for improvement before problems arise. Furthermore, you verify that technical activities are carried out and recorded correctly.

Your work is successful when researchers can use the facilities you have helped organize and manage without any worries.

In addition, you will be involved in:

• the administrative recording of changes and technical activities;
• the connection of installations to technical and medical gases;
• providing support for technical issues within the laboratory environment;
• contributing to a safe and well-organized working environment.

This position is different from a traditional laboratory role and different from a role within a technical service department.

You work in a high-quality research environment where reliability is essential. The combination of technical issues, diverse contacts, and the space to shape the role yourself makes the work varied and challenging.

Experience in a laboratory is a plus, but not a requirement. Experience in a hospital, university, research institute, technical service, maritime environment, or other technical-facility working environments also aligns well.
