Location: Amersfoort
You work at stations and on projects throughout the Netherlands.
The role
A fault report comes in: somewhere in the Netherlands along the tracks, a cable is not working as it should. The cause is not visible and can be in a completely different location from where the problem is noticed. Using special measuring equipment, you will go out on investigations together with your colleagues. You will read out measurement data, rule out possible causes, and work step-by-step toward the solution.
At the Measurement Service, we are the detectives of electrical engineering. We love investigating, puzzling, and solving problems. Every fault is different. It is precisely that detective work, combined with technology and teamwork, that makes this profession so special.
No two days are the same. One time you are investigating a fault in a power cable, the next time you are performing measurements in a substation. You work outdoors, at various locations, and use special measuring equipment that not many technicians in the Netherlands master.
Our specialists perform measurements on cables, substations, security installations, and power supplies, both inside and outside the railway environment. We track down faults, check installations after work has been performed, and ensure that systems continue to function safely and reliably. And the best part is: you can learn this profession with us!
What you'll do
- Investigating, locating and helping to solve cable faults;
- Performing control measurements and security measurements;
- Performing measurements on substations, power cables, and power supplies;
- Reading out, investigating, and translating measurement data into a possible cause;
- Checking cables after they have been rerouted or welded;
- Working with modern measuring equipment and thinking along about smart measurement methods;
- Collaborating with colleagues, groundworkers, and other contractors at varying locations.
Faults do not adhere to office hours. Therefore, work may also take place at night or on weekends. Naturally, you will be extra rewarded for this. For the first period, you will start during the day, so that you can gain experience in peace. You will perform night work together with experienced colleagues when you are ready for it.
After your training, you can grow into an independent measurement specialist, senior measurement specialist, or technical specialist within rail infrastructure.
Vacatureomschrijving
As a BBL Apprentice in the Electrical Engineering Measurement Service, you combine working and learning in practice. Four days a week you go out on the road, and one day a week you follow the BBL training in Electrical Engineering level 3. You don't need to know the profession yet. We are primarily looking for someone who is curious about technology and shows a desire to learn.
At the Measurement Service, you will grow into a specialist in a unique field within rail technology. You will learn to understand measurement data, investigate faults, and check technical installations. Where others only see a fault, you will learn step-by-step how to find the cause. Together with experienced colleagues, you will learn step-by-step how to perform measurements and investigate faults. Ultimately, you will be able to do this independently.
This is how you make a difference
- You want to start a BBL training in Electrical Engineering level 3.
- You can concentrate well and shut out the outside world for a moment when a measurement requires it.
- You have patience and continue to search step-by-step if the solution is not immediately visible.
- You work accurately and feel responsibility for safe and reliable work.
- You ask questions, are open to feedback, and trust in the professional knowledge of experienced colleagues.
- You dare to ask questions, think along, and also come up with your own ideas.
- You do not find working outdoors and varying working hours a problem.
Because you work at different locations and regularly go out with measuring equipment and tools, a B driving license is required and it is important that you are physically capable of carrying materials. Do you not have a driving license yet, but are you 18 years or older? Or are you doubting if the work suits you? Let us know in your application. We would love to look at the possibilities together.
