The role
In short
Do you get excited by research and feel drawn to the role that banks play in society?
As a sector analyst in the Sector Research department, you conduct economic research into sectors within the Dutch economy.
The team develops and shares knowledge through internal and external publications, presentations, and training sessions.
Sector Research is part of Sector & Sustainability Expertise, the foundation of ABN AMRO as the sector bank of the Netherlands.
With our sector knowledge, we assist our internal and external stakeholders, including business relationships, with strategic decisions.
We work together with various departments within the bank. For example, we have intensive contact with the commercial sector teams.
We also have a role in risk management and strategy determination, for instance by identifying and interpreting opportunities and challenges.
Your work
You enjoy using your analytical skills to search for trends affecting your core sectors, Industry and Transport & Logistics.
Think of electrification, digitalization and robotics, sustainability, regulation, innovation, disruption by AI, and new forms of collaboration within the sector.
You search for, process, and analyze various sources to arrive at new insights. The use of data is an important part of your work.
You also conduct qualitative research. As an analyst, you develop a good nose for new developments, trends, and business models.
You deliver internal and external publications and engage in dialogue with colleagues and the market regarding the insights from your research.
Visiting companies and engaging in dialogue with companies interests you.
You get energy from expanding your network, both within the bank and beyond.
Working Environment
Working within Sector & Sustainability Expertise, you collaborate with experts who all focus primarily on their own sector, but also look at cross-sectoral connections and themes.
We reflect and learn from each other by giving feedback on both content and behavior.
For your two core sectors, you work daily with two sector economists, two sector experts, and a sustainability expert.
The focus of the sector and sustainability experts lies on the commercial side. They speak with clients, give presentations, and maintain contact with the most important internal and external stakeholders.
The focus of the sector analysts and sector economists is independent research, but they also give presentations and maintain contact with internal and external stakeholders.
You will regularly encounter both the experts and the analysts and economists as spokespersons in the national media. You will receive media training for this first.
Your profile
You have a completed university degree. You love analytical thinking, performing analyses, and you are curious, proactive, and creative.
A link to your core sectors, knowledge of economics, and affinity with technology are a plus.
You love delving into data, know how to structure that data, and how to create distinctive and clear analyses from it.
