Senior AI Engineer

• A completed master's degree in AI or Computer Science
• 5–10 years of experience with AI/ML solutions in production environments (preferably within enterprise domains such as CIA)
• Consultant mindset or persona: you enjoy working together with the business to design and build solutions
• Strong software engineering foundation with experience in production-grade Python
• Experience with Docker and container-based development
• Cloud experience, preferably with Azure
• Familiar with API integrations and CI/CD deployment flows
• Accustomed to switching between tech and non-tech teams, challenging stakeholders, and building domain understanding
• You think in terms of possibilities and concrete solutions, not just models
• You communicate clearly with developers, data scientists, and business stakeholders within CIA
• You are analytically sharp, pragmatic in your approach, and technically strong in execution
• You build connection with the domain to create solutions that truly land

• NLP experience or pipelines is a plus

Corporate Insights & Analytics (CIA) is the data and AI engine within KPN. With about 40 professionals — from developers and data scientists to consultants, data engineers, scrum masters, and product owners — we work across five Scrum teams on internal digital innovation. You will become part of the AI for Corporate team within Group Business Services, a close-knit and entrepreneurial group of six AI specialists building AI solutions for HR & Finance. Within the same department, you will also work closely with the Anaplan, Oracle Reporting, Managed Dashboarding, and Data teams, as well as with KPN’s fast-growing AI community of 50+ AI engineers and data scientists.

• You will design and build Generative AI and NLP solutions that make internal processes in HR & Finance smarter, faster, and AI-Native.
• You will work on concrete use cases such as AI agents for HR/Finance, automated invoice scanning, approval workflows, and predictive models.
• You will take independent ownership of features — from idea to production — with a focus on scalable, reliable, and maintainable AI services.
• You are a bridge builder between tech and non-tech, you dare to challenge, you ask critical questions, and you build strong domain connection and understanding.
• You combine AI expertise with a production mindset and software engineering quality.

Team & work model

We work hybrid with flexible home-working options. We meet on Mondays in Rotterdam and on Thursdays in Amsterdam. Additionally, we regularly organize AI knowledge-sharing and community events.
