The Business Consultant position falls within the Finance component of Group Business Services (GBS) in the Record to Report (Accounting) department. The GBS Record to Report (Accounting) department bears responsibility for the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of KPN's financial figures for the purpose of internal reporting and external reporting. An important aspect here concerns the unlocking of systems and the processing of (financial) figures derived from them. Within KPN, this world is constantly evolving, in which the Business Consultant ensures that these developments are properly secured.

The Business Consultant connects Accounting, processes, and financial IT and represents the accounting interest in projects and changes. The role translates developments and needs in a timely manner into workable, controlled, and future-proof solutions, while ensuring the coherence between processes, systems, data, controls, journalizing, management, and reporting. In this way, the role contributes to reliable financial figures, a predictable reporting process, and a sustainable, transferable implementation.

As a Business Consultant Accounting & Financial IT, you are the connecting link between Accounting, processes, and IT. You ensure that changes within systems, processes, and projects align with the financial reality and meet the requirements of Accounting. In doing so, you combine financial expertise with analytical ability and a sharp eye for processes, data, and technology. You advise stakeholders on complex issues, guide changes within the financial chain, and ensure that the impact of changes on processes, systems, and reports is transparent. With your knowledge, you contribute to a future-proof financial organization in which control, quality, and continuous improvement are central.

In this role:

• You advise management and stakeholders on complex issues in the field of Accounting, financial processes, and IT, making risks, dependencies, and solution directions transparent.
• You represent the interests of Accounting within projects and changes and ensure that accounting requirements are included from the start in design and decision-making processes.
• You analyze end-to-end processes, data, and cash flows and translate business and accounting needs into clear functional requirements, process designs, and acceptance criteria.
• You assess the impact of changes on financial processes, system configuration, booking logic, reports, and internal control measures, in close cooperation with IT and functional management.
• You direct changes with an impact on Accounting, from intake and analysis to testing, implementation, knowledge transfer, and aftercare.
• You initiate and realize improvements in the areas of standardization, automation, risk management, and data-driven working within the financial chain.

In this way, you make an impact within KPN by ensuring that changes within the financial chain are designed to be manageable, explainable, and future-proof.

You are an analytical and curious professional who enjoys making the connection between Accounting, processes, and IT. You know how to quickly grasp complex issues and are able to make the impact of changes on financial processes, systems, and reports transparent. In doing so, you combine substantive expertise with strong advisory skills. You dare to ask critical questions, make interests discussable, and know how to involve stakeholders at various levels in your advice. Thanks to your organizational sensitivity, persuasiveness, and communication skills, you know how to explain complex subject matter clearly to both management and specialists. You take ownership, maintain an overview in change processes, and enjoy collaborating to realize sustainable improvements.
