Security Operations Engineer

You will be joining a team responsible for the management and lifecycle of a wide range of security platforms. The team ensures that firewalls, load balancers, and mail security are always up to date, patched, and well-protected.

The security environment must be available day and night. Therefore, the team works with a 24x7 shift schedule, in which you will also participate. You will work together with engineers who build and implement, and with engineers who handle daily management. Together, you will keep the environment running and become increasingly smarter through automation.

As a Security Operations Engineer, you will perform Lifecycle Management (LCM) on the security platforms. You will work in an environment with:

• F5
• Palo Alto
• Check Point
• Cisco ASA
• Cisco ESA (IronPort)

What you are going to do:

• Renewing licenses, upgrading software, and implementing patches.
• Replacing hardware.
• Resolving vulnerabilities and findings (remediation tasks).
• Implementing operational changes and resolving incidents.
• Automating work with Ansible, Terraform, and Git.

Depending on your profile, the emphasis will lie on one of two sides:

• Implementation: you build, configure, and implement. You develop Ansible playbooks, adapt Terraform modules, and work with Git workflows. As a mid-level engineer, you also contribute to the design.
• Operations: you focus on daily management, operational changes, and resolving incidents. You execute Ansible playbooks and Terraform deployments, use Git, and automate where possible with Python.

• You are willing to participate in a 24x7 shift schedule.
• You have experience with (part of) the mentioned security platforms.
• You have an affinity with automation.
• An entry-level certification, for example Palo Alto PCCET or PCNSA, Check Point CCSA, F5-CA, or Cisco CCNA Security (from before 2020) or CCNA (from 2020).
• A number of years of experience with designing and implementing security solutions.
• Experience with developing Ansible playbooks, adapting Terraform modules, and working with Git workflows.
• Experience with executing Ansible playbooks and Terraform deployments, basic knowledge of Git, and Python.
