The role
You work on challenging strategic projects within the Public Sector. Think of developing, researching and/or calculating a policy intention for a ministry, helping executive organizations with their strategy, economic evaluations and social cost-benefit analyses, or analyzing synergy potential during a merger of public organizations. Examples of assignments that KPMG's public sector team has worked on include: calculation of and support for the price cap, research into the future-proofing of Dutch elite sports, the market consultation on nuclear energy, and supporting the establishment of the CBR's multi-year strategy.
In addition to working on projects, you work on the development of the team. You write proposals to win new assignments and participate in training to increase your knowledge and advisory skills. You also fulfill an important internal role: that of sparring partner and coach to junior colleagues. Your agenda is filled with client meetings at the administrative level, updates with the team, and working sessions with involved employees from your client organizations. In your work week, you combine your clear overview, strong substantive knowledge, and role as a coach to achieve the desired result together with clients and colleagues.
''The variety between contributing to the development of colleagues, diving into complex issues, and thinking along at the administrative level is what makes the role of manager so fun and challenging!'' - Jasmin, Senior Manager KPMG S&O Public Sector
The public sector is not standing still: due to recent crises and the emergence of new societal issues, the government is increasingly dealing with complex challenges. Whether it concerns the energy transition, creating a customer-oriented government, the nitrogen crisis, livelihood security, or the shift in (political) priorities. KPMG's public sector team works daily on major issues that affect all Dutch citizens.
As part of the public sector team, you will find yourself in a challenging environment where you work together with colleagues on complex tasks, devising smart solutions for public clients. Together with the team, which consists of nearly 40 driven advisors with various backgrounds, you strive to make a positive contribution to the public sector every day.
What you'll do
- Economic research and/or calculations in preparation for policy.
- Evaluation of business cases.
- Social Cost-Benefit analyses.
- Formulating a strategy for a public executor.
- Designing a new organizational structure and/or top structure at a department or executive organization.
- Analysis of synergy potential during merger processes of public organizations.
