The role
Your progress begins at Berenschot
0.8-1 fte | Utrecht | hybrid | € 7,779 - € 10,884 | Energy and living environment | master's degree
The heat transition is one of the most complex challenges within climate policy. The development of heat networks is lagging behind, while laws and regulations are changing, public and private roles are shifting, and affordability for end users is under pressure. This requires sharp strategic choices, realistic implementation capacity, and administrative direction.
The heat transition only succeeds if strategy, policy, and implementation are in balance with one another. That means: realistic plans, robust governance, financeable business cases, and an eye for social justice.
As an advisor at Berenschot, you contribute to this balance. You combine sharp analyses with administrative sensitivity and translate plans into actionable solutions that actually get heat projects off the ground.
In short: you work on a systemic change with direct impact on municipalities, residents, and the climate - and ensure that ambitions are actually realized.
This is what you will do
In this role, you combine two responsibilities: you are a leading advisor in the heat transition AND you take the lead in the positioning and growth of Berenschot within this domain.
Advice and projects for clients:
As an advisor, you work on complex strategic issues surrounding the energy system, and specifically heat networks and the sustainability of the built environment. You:
develop scenarios, strategic analyses, and perspectives for action that directly influence administrative decision-making
advise on setting up public and public-private heat companies
work on affordability issues and strategic choices for governments and energy companies
guide clients through complex administrative decision-making and strategic choices
are ultimately responsible for the substantive quality and impact of advisory trajectories
lead complex projects within the heat transition.
For Berenschot:
In addition, you are active in the development of the advisory practice:
You take the lead in the positioning of Berenschot within the heat transition.
You identify opportunities in the market and develop propositions.
You build and maintain sustainable client relationships.
You initiate and acquire new assignments (acquisition).
You develop multi-year collaborations around systemic issues.
You act as a visible figurehead in the external network.
You contribute to the growth and profiling of the heat team.
Examples of projects we work on:
exploration of policy options for the financial attractiveness of collective heat
frameworks for the affordability of heat systems
business plan for public heat companies
analysis of end-user costs in the heat transition
heat network strategy for municipalities, such as Arnhem.
