Junior Project Lead

Role description:

As a Junior Project Lead within the Signalling business unit, you are responsible for performing all kinds of activities related to organizing and controlling the projects we execute. You do this under the wing of the project leaders and together with other junior project leaders. They will train you in the world of project management, in which financial and contractual control are important aspects. To be able to fulfill your tasks well, it is important that you have an affinity for technology. Therefore, you will also receive a basic course in railway signalling so that you can communicate effectively about this with specialists and clients. A part of your projects will focus on railway signalling, while another part will encompass integrated rail projects.

Your daily activities are diverse: You draw up project plans and monitor their execution. This means that you handle the team planning, identifying bottlenecks in the process and advising the project leader on solutions. You also monitor and forecast project costs and prepare monthly project reports for the client. You discuss these with the client together with the project leader. You prepare these meetings and handle the reporting. And you support the project leaders during tender processes to acquire new assignments.

Role responsibilities:

Together with the experienced project leaders you work for, you are responsible for the commercial and contractual side of the projects, but also for the planning and the guidance of the technical process. This means that social skills and an affinity for technology are also important.

Examples of projects we have worked on:

• Reconfiguration of yards such as Den Haag, Zwolle, Driebergen-Zeist, and Den Bosch
• Engineering (greenfield) Hanzelijn, Maasvlakte Zuid;
• ERTMS adjustment Zevenaar and Kijfhoek, Betuweroute.
• Various important ERTMS projects including the Zeeuwse Lijn, EKB Kijfhoek-Belgian border, and ENL northern lines.

Additionally, we are now working together with our German colleagues on projects in Germany and will increasingly collaborate internationally with our colleagues in other countries in the future.

Business Unit Signaling:

You are part of the dynamic Business Unit Signalling, consisting of 80 employees (including a team of 15+ colleagues in India). The Project Management team consists of project leaders and project managers with various profiles and experiences who together supervise 70 rail projects being executed within and outside the business unit, together with the designers and specialists of Arcadis.

Qualifications & Experience:

We are looking for a starter who is customer- and result-oriented, entrepreneurial, flexible, and proactive. As a junior project leader, you must be able to plan and organize well and maintain an overview of the entire process, being able to assess risks and also identify opportunities. You are not afraid to raise bottlenecks and problems and to see these as challenges. In the technical environment, it is important that you have an affinity for engineering/technology.

• You have a completed HBO or WO degree in a technical field (for example, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or technical business administration) and/or an affinity for technology.
• You are interested in a dynamic working environment where you will be deployed broadly.
• You have excellent command of the Dutch and English languages. If the opportunity arises, you see working in/with foreign countries as a challenge.
• You are meticulous and analytically strong, have an integrated view, are result-oriented, communicatively skilled, a true team player, and eager to learn.
