Make an impact where strategy, finance, and operations converge. As a business controller at aaff, you are not on the sidelines, but in the middle of decision-making. You join management, contribute at a strategic level, and translate complex developments into sharp insights and concrete actions. This is not a role where you only provide figures, but a position where you provide direction: you interpret, signal, and advise—both requested and unsolicited.
Right now is the perfect moment to step in. aaff is transforming its way of steering and explicitly positioning Business Control as a strategic sparring partner. That means space to build, influence over how we work, and direct impact on the performance of multiple business units. Do you, as an experienced controller, want to look beyond reports and truly make a difference in decision-making? Then this is a role with visibility, responsibility, and room for growth.
In this position, you will certainly be an advisory member of the management team of your business units. You monitor progress toward strategic goals, signal deviations, and ensure that management sees in a timely manner where adjustments are needed. In doing so, you look beyond the financial figures: specifically, developments regarding employees, operations, customers, and commerce are the early signals used for steering. The financial results follow from that.
You analyze a wide range of KPIs, such as revenue, gross margin, billability, capacity, and cost development. You provide the Director of Finance & Control with an independent judgment on the performance of your services. In doing so, you bring not only the figures into view, but especially the causes, risks, and possible interventions. In a fixed tandem with the HX Business Partner, who brings in employee absenteeism and turnover, you arrive at one integral advice: concrete, substantiated, and aimed at decision-making. The emphasis lies on interpretation and advice, not on building reports.
Additionally, you prepare the budget and forecast for your services, including scenarios and administrative interpretation. You help management take ownership of improvement actions. In this, you work closely with your colleagues within Business Control, HX, Financial Control, the Data Team, and the Strategic Transformation Office (STO).
aaff is implementing a new steering structure as of 2027. As a business controller, you are a member of the management team of the Northeast region (meeting location Zwolle) and participate in the monthly performance discussions with the responsible Board Member, the director, and the HX Business Partner. You are therefore stepping in at the moment when things are being built, with all the space to leave your mark at a senior level.
You will join a professional team that is in full development. Once a week, all business controllers meet at a central location for coordination, knowledge sharing, benchmarks, and case studies; we learn from each other and make each other better. On the other days, you work independently and close to the business, with a lot of autonomy in how you organize your work.
You are a strategic sparring partner to the management of two to three business units and advise both requested and unsolicited.
You form an independent judgment on the performance of your business units and report on this to the Director Finance & Control.
Using the OGSM methodology, you monitor progress toward the strategic goals of your business units and translate deviations into concrete actions and interventions.
You analyze KPI developments, perform root cause analyses, and advise on measures including expected impact.
You prepare budgets and forecasts, including scenarios and management interpretations.
You form a permanent tandem with the HX Business Partner and connect financial insights with developments in the areas of employees, operations, customers, and commerce.
You contribute to the further professionalization of Business Control within aaff, including through management information and performance reviews.
