Locomotive Mechanic

Are you an experienced mechanic who enjoys working on large equipment? Do you have knowledge of locomotives or rail vehicles and do you want to ensure they continue to run safely and reliably? Then this job at VolkerRail is for you!

You will work in our workshop in Dordrecht. You will independently and together with colleagues perform maintenance, repairs, and inspections on our own locomotives and those of other clients. You ensure that the equipment remains in top technical condition and can be deployed safely. Your duties:

In our workshop in Dordrecht, a team of approximately 20 employees works daily to monitor the reliability and technical state of our machines and to keep them optimally deployable. We all do this together for the Engineering & Maintenance (T&O) department, part of the Materieeldienst of VolkerRail. We work from 6:45 AM to 3:30 PM. The team also takes care of organizing a 24/7 breakdown service to ensure that, in the event of a malfunction, the equipment can be repaired and made deployable on location as quickly as possible. A breakdown service does not apply to this position.

• You perform maintenance work on the locomotives;

• You perform the necessary inspections according to fixed guidelines;

• Identifying malfunctions and technical problems;

• Ensuring a safe workplace together with your team.

We are looking for an experienced mechanic who knows his craft.

• You have a (v)mbo education in a technical field;

• You have several years of experience as a mechanic (preferably in the rail industry or with heavy equipment);

• You are independent, practical, and solution-oriented;

• You have an affinity for rail vehicles and large equipment;

• You have a VCA diploma (or you are willing to obtain one);

• Safety and quality are always your number one priority;

• You work well in a team.
