Requirements

What we're looking for

HBO (Higher Professional Education) working and thinking level
A completed education in Higher Safety Science (HVK) or NEBOSH
Extensive demonstrable experience as a safety specialist or advisor in a technical or project environment
Thorough knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and preferably the Safety Culture Ladder (SCL)
Sound knowledge of occupational health and environmental legislation, VCA, and risk management
The ability to translate data, audits, and incidents into concrete improvement actions

The role

As a Senior Safety Specialist Projects, you will fulfill a key role within our Business Unit. You operate in a dynamic and project-driven environment where safety, quality, and environment continuously deserve attention. In this role, you go beyond just advising: you steer, challenge, and improve structurally.

You are (co)responsible for the functioning and further development of the HSEQ management system within projects and act as a critical sparring partner for project management and the board. You know how to make the difference between paperwork and practice and focus on effective risk management.

You assess HSE plans, RI&E's, and TRA's for applicability in practice, lead incident investigations, and ensure that improvements are actually implemented. Additionally, you independently conduct internal, external, and supplier audits and inspections, and you analyze KPIs, incidents, and trends to provide concrete direction to management and project teams.

You advise, both requested and unsolicited, on compliance, risk management, and process improvement, and you fully and authoritatively take on the role of Prevention Officer. For project-based safety specialists, you are the technical point of contact.

You are an experienced safety specialist who operates independently, takes clear positions, and dares to challenge management and project teams technically. You identify risks early, act upon them, and bring people along based on professional knowledge, authority, and persuasiveness.
