You want to have an influence on how work is done, right in the middle of practice. On projects, in the workshop, and in conversation with colleagues.
At Dura Vermeer Materieel, we are looking for an experienced Safety Specialist / QHSE Advisor to strengthen our infrastructure division. Someone who sees what can be improved, makes it a topic of discussion, and also makes it happen by bringing colleagues along with you.
You are responsible for the safety policy and ensure that this truly lives within the organization. You interact extensively with operations and are regularly on-site.
Concretely, you:
take care of or participate in accident investigations and reporting
monitor the follow-up of workplace inspections, SAVE reports, and toolbox meetings and initiate actions
coach managers and employees in working safely
carry out (behavioral) audits and inspections and facilitate external audits
make an active contribution to the development of safety policies and programs and the implementation and monitoring of the safety policy
participate in safety meetings and monitor the annual planning
monitor the implementation of relevant parts of the action plan from the RI&E
are the point of contact within the Materieeldienst for our safety program Seeing Acting Learning
You are visible. Not just on paper, but precisely on the work floor.
Dura Vermeer is an independent family business. And you can notice that. In how we work together, look out for one another, and build with an eye for future generations. Since 1855, we have been building the Netherlands, in residential construction, utility construction, infrastructure, and technology. Our independence and long-term vision form the basis for this.
With a turnover of € 2.6 billion and over 3,700 colleagues, we belong to the top of the Dutch construction sector. But ultimately, for us, it is not about those figures. It is about people. About colleagues working together on projects you can be proud of – iconic and close by – and contributing to solutions for societal issues.
Our ambitions are great. And we only achieve them with engaged people. That is why we invest in good employer leadership and a working environment in which you feel at home. Where you can be yourself, feel safe, and speak up. So that you get the best out of yourself and make more together with us.
You will join a small safety team. The lines are short, you communicate quickly, and you have a lot of personal responsibility.
At the same time, you are not alone. Within Dura Vermeer, you work together with a large network of safety colleagues from other divisions. People who, just like you, are working with safety, with whom you can brainstorm, share knowledge, and build further together on a strong safety culture.
That combination makes it interesting: the impact of a small team, with the strength of a large network behind you.
The focus of your role lies on our workshop in Cruquius. There, you are visibly present on the floor and ensure that safety is not just a subject on paper, but something that colleagues feel, discuss, and do daily.
At the same time, you look beyond just Cruquius. You regularly visit our support points and projects throughout the country to also make safety visible and discussable there. It is precisely that variation between workshop, projects, and operations that makes this position dynamic.
You are not a ‘paper’ advisor. You know how things go out in the field and you dare to engage in the conversation.
Furthermore, you bring the following:
HBO working and thinking level, oriented towards safety (IVK/MVK)
at least 3 years of experience as a QHSE advisor
experience within infrastructure or a technical environment
you switch easily between policy and practice
you are firm, approachable, and persuasive
you are willing to travel throughout the country
We are consciously looking for someone with experience. Not to lock everything down, but to make an immediate impact and bring balance to the team.
A permanent contract immediately! Because we have confidence in you and want to build the future together.
The salary for this position is between €3,961 and €4,952 gross per 4 weeks (based on 40 hours), excluding 8% holiday allowance. The exact salary depends on your knowledge, level, and work experience.
38 vacation days to recharge nicely with full-time employment.
Excellent secondary employment conditions such as standard insurance for all employee risks, pension schemes, an extra supplement in case of disability, and a contribution towards union membership.
A laptop and a smartphone.
A lease car.
Much attention to your growth thanks to our own Dura Vermeer Academy with plenty of education and training opportunities within your field, but also, for example, in the area of vitality.
Company fitness scheme with a choice from a sports offering of over 3,500 sports locations throughout the Netherlands.
For new fathers and partners: 100% continued payment of your salary during the first 5 statutory leave days and the 5 weeks of additional parental leave, instead of the standard 70%.
