The role
The role
Are you an experienced mechatronic systems engineer, lead engineer, or system architect with at least 10 years of experience within complex mechanical engineering, industrial automation, or industrial mechanization? Do you no longer want to be responsible for just a part of the system, but for the technical direction of the whole? Then this role offers the challenge of providing direction to the production systems of tomorrow.
What you'll do
The chance that you will design the same machine twice is small. For a Mechatronic Lead Systems Engineer, this means a work environment in which no project is the same and technical innovation is daily practice. You determine how systems are constructed, which technologies are applied, and which technical choices are necessary to successfully realize projects. As the technical person ultimately responsible, you provide direction to complex machines and production lines that are deployed worldwide. You translate customer needs and business objectives into robust system architectures and ensure that mechanics, control engineering, software, electrical engineering, and safety come together in one integrally working system. You are involved from the first customer inquiry through to the final commissioning and operate at a strategic, tactical, and technical level. In addition, you are an important interlocutor for customers, project management, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. Your responsibilities include:
- Defining and documenting the system architecture;
- Translating customer needs into technical concepts and solutions;
- Dividing complex systems into manageable subsystems;
- Making trade-offs between performance, cost, risks, and planning;
- Performing and monitoring technical risk analyses;
- Developing technological roadmaps;
- Assessing and approving architectural and design choices;
- Technically managing multidisciplinary engineering teams;
- Advising customers on technical solutions and investment choices;
- Monitoring system integration, performance, safety, and reliability.
Your strength
You are an experienced systems engineer or architect. You have designed complex machines, production lines, or automation solutions, made technical choices under uncertainty, and provided technical direction to multidisciplinary teams. Now you are ready for a role in which you are ultimately responsible for the technical direction of complete systems. You are used to making technical decisions under uncertainty, can distinguish between essential and non-essential matters, and know how to connect diverse disciplines into one working solution. Furthermore, you possess:
