The role
Who are we?
Our journey began in 2014 with Chapter 1 of the energy transition, in which we wanted to make the market more transparent by connecting consumers directly with local, green energy producers.
Now, in Chapter 2, we are committed to making 100% green energy available 100% of the time. Think of smart solutions - flexible use of wind and solar parks, smart charging of electric vehicles, and efficient energy storage.
We don't wait around and we make an active contribution to a sustainable future, occasionally with a touch of rebellion.
Green energy, smart solutions - that is Vandebron.
Your impact
As our Backoffice Manager, or Manager Market Operations as the role is called internally, you are the driving force behind the specialized team that ensures our complex market processes run flawlessly and protects our daily customer traffic.
You form the bridge between strong people management, operational excellence, and tech innovation. On one hand, you are responsible for the 'run': you ensure that our daily market processes remain stable and compliant. On the other hand, you are involved in the 'change': together with Customer Operations, Product, Tech, and Data, you automate workflows and seamlessly roll out new market regulations. You build a team culture in which people take ownership and get the best out of themselves, so that complex and regulated market requirements never come at the expense of Vandebron's speed or the customer experience.
In this role, you report directly to Niels Haverkort, Director Operations.
What you will do
Leading and coaching: Lead our Backoffice team of 8 Specialists and help take it to a higher level. You organize energetic team meetings and 1-on-1s to keep both motivation and quality high.
Ensuring everything runs smoothly: Monitor the performance of our critical (market) processes, from meter data to successful switches.
Being the go-to problem solver: Act as the primary escalation point for complex, cross-departmental market issues that require a clear perspective and a quick solution.
Translating rules into practice: Translate complicated laws, regulations, and market changes into practical processes, so that your team is always fully informed.
Collaborating with Tech & Data: Work closely with our tech departments to further automate and continuously improve market processes in our systems.
Representing Vandebron: Join our Energy Market Specialist at industry meetings (such as EDSN or grid operators) to ensure our voice is heard.
Growing the team: Play an active role in the growth of your team members.
What you bring
Educational background: HBO/WO working and thinking level, preferably in Business Administration, Operations, or a technical/energy-related field.
Leadership experience: 3+ years of experience in a leadership role within an operational or customer-oriented environment (bonus points if that is in the energy sector!).
Knowledge of the energy market is a plus: In-depth knowledge of energy processes (think of electricity/gas, EDSN, MFF).
Change management skills: You know how to implement process, market, and legal changes and you are familiar with systems such as Salesforce, Ecedo, or similar tools.
The right mindset: You have a people-oriented, coaching leadership style. You are analytical, data-driven, and know how to connect people to achieve goals.
Why Vandebron?
Make a real impact: You get full ownership over a crucial department that combines operational stability with market innovation.
A unique mix: This role offers a rare combination of people management, operational excellence, and technological development that you don't often see in regular management positions.
Accelerate the transition: Play a key role in the energy transition by ensuring Vandebron remains scalable, efficient, and compliant.
A career step that makes an impact
Tackle complex challenges: In your first year, you will take on the strategic integration of new legislation, while actively reducing manual errors through tech automation.
Build an exemplary team: You create a high-performing, engaged, and autonomous team culture.
See immediate results: You will look back on measurable improvements in market process KPIs and successfully delivered automation projects together with our Product teams.
