The role
We are Vandebron
Our journey began in 2014 with Chapter 1 of the energy transition, in which we wanted to make the market more transparent by connecting consumers directly with local, green energy producers.
Now, in Chapter 2, we are committed to making 100% green energy available 100% of the time. Think of smart solutions - flexible use of wind and solar parks, smart charging of electric vehicles, and efficient energy storage.
We don't wait around and we make an active contribution to a sustainable future, occasionally with a touch of rebellion.
Green energy, smart solutions - that is Vandebron.
This is where you come in
Together with your teammates, you are responsible for the management and optimization of our energy portfolio. This ranges from long-term hedging to short-term optimization on the day-ahead, intraday, and ex-post markets, as well as the optimal deployment of all our flexible assets (such as batteries) across the various relevant markets.
You work closely with the Forecasting team to keep supply and demand in the portfolio perfectly balanced, and with Account Management for the long-term contracts with our producers. In doing so, you keep the risks and costs of our trading activities strictly under control. Your work directly determines how Vandebron creates value in the energy market and helps us make 100% green energy available 100% of the time.
What will you do?
You trade electricity and gas across all relevant markets, from long-term hedging to daily trading on the day-ahead, intraday, and ex-post markets.
You translate production and consumption forecasts into smart trading decisions that keep the portfolio in balance and mitigate risks.
You deploy our flexible assets, including batteries, as smartly as possible to extract maximum value from the various markets.
You support Account Management in determining the value of long-term contracts with our energy producers.
You contribute to the further automation of our trading strategies and take our current approach to a higher level.
You convert portfolio and trading insights into clear pricing models and reports for internal stakeholders.
This is how you make a difference
You possess a university-level (WO) working and thinking level in a quantitative, technical, or economic/business direction.
You have experience with programming (for example, in Python and SQL) and are proficient in data analysis and quantitative modeling.
You have a strong affinity with financial or trading concepts, such as risk management and hedging. Experience with or affinity for the energy market is a major plus.
You are proactive and entrepreneurial. You do not wait for tasks to be assigned, but take the lead and act on the opportunities and risks that you see.
You like to dig deep when something deviates or stands out; you prefer to investigate matters thoroughly yourself rather than just reporting on them.
You communicate clearly, can explain complex subject matter simply to various teams, and dare to make yourself heard.
You work accurately, maintain an overview, and make the right choices quickly during busy moments.
What we offer you
A salary depending on your work experience, between €3,000 and €3,700 gross per month, based on 40 hours, excluding holiday allowance.
An annual bonus based on the company's performance
30 vacation days per year
Extra paid leave for special moments, such as a move, wedding, and extended parental leave. Additionally, you are off every year on Liberation Day AND you receive 2 extra free days: one for volunteering and one when you choose sustainable travel
Work from abroad for up to 6 weeks per year (maximum 4 consecutive weeks, of which a maximum of 4 weeks can be outside the EU)
The possibility to take a sabbatical after 3 years
€1,200 training budget per year + unlimited access to our L&D programs
Much attention to your well-being, with unlimited access to the mental health platform OpenUp
A pension scheme
Income protection via insurance for long-term disability
€50 net per month as an allowance for your phone and wifi
A one-time €200 budget for setting up your home workspace
A discount on your Vandebron invoice
Flexible hybrid working from home and our CO₂-neutral office in Amsterdam
Every day a free, healthy, and vegetarian lunch, freshly prepared at the office
An NS Business Card if you live 10 km or more from our office
